Blog #2
What happens when the city of Beijing gets hot? The smells that were masked by cool winter breeze, are amplified by the severe dry heat. Shorts and flip flops come out, only to be greeted by flying spit.
No, no this is not going to be another spit filled blog where projectile gobs of goo come flying at you and hit you right on your naked toe cleavage.
After leaving MTV after 4 years in NY and Beijing, I knew that whatever happened next would have to happen organically, naturally. No pushing, fighting, forcing... things were going to come my way... and whatever that was, I would love doing it. God knows I earned the right to do what I care about.
So here come passion projects where all of the sudden I am working my ass off, for a fraction of the pay I used to get, and lovin' it (sorry mc donalds for stealing your line). I am going to struggle along with my artists, and make something out of them, and me, hopefully, in the long run.
My favorite thing - working with people you LIKE. At an office, you have to work with people because someone in HR decided that the person would be good for the company. And now, running my little teeny tiny consultancy, I get to work with people I like. WOW. What a revelation. No dumb people = no dumb politics!
Another thing is being able to nap when you want, no I am kidding - I napped all the time in the office, especially in New York MTV office, I would be snoozing underneath the cubicle of a mohawk-ed, punk rocker's desk, sleeping off a hangover as I lay next to his worn doc martens boots. No one would dare ask where I was or question me next to him!
I fell into managing an Asian American soon to be pop star called
Chloe
Wang in Beijing who, at 16 had never done dancing and singing at the
same time, or a music video - never mind performing live at a concert
of 40,000 in Chengdu China right after S.H.E (who she says "opened" for
her), on stage with Jin and Tia - they rocked China that night...

working hard, struggling and not having a J-O-B! You are an inspiration
to me.
