Went to Scarborough Grace Hospital today and visited my grandfather, Lau Shiu-Chuen. A retired Hong Kong record producer. I was told by my mom to pay him a visit today and so, I did what I was told right after work. He seemed to be in a very weak condition and he was looking very thin. Strangely enough, he was muttering all day and I couldn't understand a word he was saying. I asked him to write down what he wanted me to do. But somehow, it didn't quite register to him. All he did was held onto the paper and refused to hold the pen. So I tried to remove the paper away from him but he wouldn't let go. And he just kept talking. From what I picked up, he kept talking about his heydays in Hong Kong when he used to be a producer for Cantonese opera records in Hong Kong. He would always tell me these stories about it. I knew he never bluffed about it since some of these well known Cantonese opera singers would come and visit us in Toronto. (Once my internet is running again at home, I will tell a bit more and type 'em in Chinese to identify some of these people. But I'm sure many Hong Kongers, particularly the older folks, would have heard of them somehow.) Anyway, I'm still not sure about the situation at the moment. I'll find out later.
