  I've got two boxes of old cameras, some that where my grandfather's and great uncle's.  I've no idea if they even work.  Though we more a lot, I've managed to keep them from being tossed out, but I've no where to put them even on display.  Still, there is a chance I can get some of them restored in Beijing for cheap, so I'll check that out after my holiday is over.  Right now, I'm enjoying the clean air and blue skies of Southern Oregon.

  Hahah yeah you're totally right, it's the nature of the industry. Time is always tight and no one is really ready to invest in you on a tight schedule unless you already have a good working relationship. It's good to see though that there are always exceptions to the rule, and at least the creative industry still appears to be striving!

  Thanks for finding the lines from that "skincare part" from the movie.  I actually have that scene in my head as I was reading it.  I remember thinking in the theatre, "gosh, this guy is so vain!" and then of course many years later, I'm the one that also has that much skincare stuff on my tables.  But I'm in no way as extreme as him :p

  Hey Thomas, It seems you're the only other Montreal artist on AnD. I miss Montreal but get back in the summer when Asia is just too hot. I've been living in Taipei for almost 14 years (It's easy to travel from here). Let me know if you ever end up in Taiwan in the future.   Yeah the market is pretty bad. But I have a good start. There are small projects for me this year. My focus is on picking up new skills that would be helpful for other opportunities. In bad times, got to invest in learning instead.

  Amen to that in respect to what you've said I do totally agree, and yes I think a lot HK definitely has that mentality, however I would still argue that it's exactly the same worldwide in more affluent countries. Singapore and Japan for example. very set by trends and fads yet still seem to manage to come together for music? Maybe I'm wrong, I'm kinda on the fence on that! :)

  It's interesting to hear that someone actually did a remake of that film... and it is even more interesting that a fest picked to screen it.. i mean, did they show it because they know it is a "tribute" to the original? or just that they didn't see the original before...?
