So I just posted this on my tumblr so I thought I'd copy and paste it here for your enjoyment.

I just remembered this thing… I guess about ten years ago, my housemate at the time asked to borrow my SLR (Nikon FM10 back then) for a location shoot (I think?). So he comes back at the end of the day, all surprised and tell me about something that just happened to him while riding the subway home (or was it on the street, shit, I forgot).

Basically, some girl seeing his (mine!) camera, walked up to him…
- You’re a photographer?
- No, not really, I just borrow the camera from my friend for some location scouting.
- Oh, that’s too bad, because I’ve been looking for someone to shoot some pictures of me, I had this idea where I’m posing naked wearing a red feather scarf.
- I see, well, sorry, I can’t hardly use a camera.
- Ok then, that’s a shame, because I didn’t want to pay for a professional, I just wanted some exchange of services for that idea I had.

I couldn’t believe him.
- You’re kidding, right?
- No, man, she actually made me uncomfortable being so open about it.
- And how was she like?
- Not bad, average fairly good looking girl, hard to tell with the winter clothes but she was pretty enough.
- And like, you didn’t think of bullshitting your way through or even better, give her my number?
- Well, no, man, sorry, it didn’t cross my mind.
- So you’re saying you acknowledged the fact it was my camera, but never thought I might be interested in the offer? Like you’re a fucking idiot or something?
- Screw you, man.

Keep in mind that was pre-2000 and affordable digital photography was still a few years away. Back in those days the only people our age you might come across using something else than a cheap plastic point-and-shoot were either photography students or really serious amateurs.

And I’ve been walking around town almost all the time with that camera and I NEVER, EVER HAD ANYONE asking me anything about it. And that guy, THAT ONLY ONE DAY he walks around with it gets a decent looking chick ASKING HIM TO SHOOT HER NEKKID. And he turned her down.

Shit, even my most open minded friend chickened out of their drunken promises of how they wanted to keep a photographic memory of how they looked in their early 20’s wearing nothing.

So yes, just another example of how my life is one bizarre comedy, but I’m the only one not laughing.

I think the guy might have had a girlfriend at the time, I can't remember.

And Elle, if you're going to pull that trick on someone, are you going walk the walk if he goes 'yeah, sure'? haha

I have this theory that she might actually like...your friend :-) To win a bet to feed my ego and prove I'm bold enough, I actually pull something equally stupid just to see the look on the guy face with a similar trick a few times first year in college. I have no idea what would I do if I met you instead of your friend...hehehe. J/K. Okie, that was just a theory of course...fun taking the trip down the memory lane isn't it (^_^)
