• Dear Film-Makers and alivenotdead members, I received word of this short film competition from a friend and am now passing the word along to all of you.  The official information regarding this competition is listed below.  The 3 directors who earn the most votes for their films will be able to attend the 2 day film-making workshop by Dov Simens at HKU on July 26th and 27th.  For more information about Dov Simens, take a look at this link: http://dovsimensfilmschool.com/bio.html For alivenotdead members, the organizers of this contest have made the following changes: -   There will be no 2 min limit to the videos you submit to this contest. -   The deadline for the voting process has been extended to July 21st,     2008.  -   To take part in this contest, click 'yes' on the events listing and post a      YouTube link of any short film you have done in the past in then      RSVP message box. -  The organizers of this contest will upload your film to the contest page     as they receive entries from this events listing and will gather     information about the participants from their alivenotdead profiles. This short films contest is a great opportunity for experienced and beginning film-makers to earn a free course to learn more about film-making from Dov Simens.  I will be attending the 2 day film-making course as well so I look forward to seeing members of alivenotdead win spots for the film course, so we can be students together! Compact the action! Concentrate the romance! Turn the most enticing plot into a glimpse of anticipation -- in the Arena of Screen Writing and Directing: "My Feature Film's Trailer" Produce a trailer of your unique story by using your home video camera, digital camera or professional HDV cameras – just anything you have on hand! Find... or BE your own cast & crew to film on location or simply at home - it can be highly professional or extremely low-tech! The Contest Send us a trailer based on the idea of the feature film or short film you have, and we'll put it on show in the Arena of Screen Writing and Directing! Netizens in town would become "virtual investors" by participating in a voting campaign, rating your potential of attracting these investors' interest in investing your ideas, as well as enticing the anticipation of the audience. The most favourable trailer producer will be granted free admission to the 2-Day Film School, and learn from Hollywood's greatest film instructor Dov Simens, the same master of Will Smith and Quentin Tarantino! Entrant Eligibility Age Limit: Aged 16 or above (At the time of entry form deadline) *To ensure fairness, staff of Dov Simens 2 Day Film School Video Contest is not allowed to take part in the competition Application We accept entries starting from NOW! Click here to fill in the application form. When finished, you will receive an email containing a contestant ID, which will be the file name of your video submission. Then upload your video according to the ftp address stated in the email. Video format: *.mov format (videos other than these formats will be disqualified) Maximum Running Time: 2 minutes (videos exceeding 2 minutes will be disqualified) Year of Production: No restriction Submission deadline: 21 July 2008 Voting Voting will start from 1 June to 24 July. The earlier you submit your work, the better chance for higher votes! Prizes The 3 videos with highest number of votes can each win a free place to the 2 Day Film School held on 26 & 27 July 2008. 2 voters will also be drawn and offered a 50% discount in the course's enrollment. * Full refund will be given to winners who had already registered and paid for the 2 Day Film School before release of video contest results.
