The
Arch of Westwood is a community art work
in progress. It's an art installation
project sponsored by the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation and Swire Properties, Hong Kong as a response to a Vivienne Westwood exhibition
which is coming at the end of this year. It's loosely based on one of
Westwood's iconic platform shoes. It is an assemblage piece and is an homage to
the work of Westwood. Hence, the ‘arch’ of the shoe parallels the arch as a
classical form of achitecture. The Arch of Westwood
is perhaps a way of preserving the form and
structure, but deriving a very unusual "arch experience" or arch
form. This is my interpretation of capturing the essence of Westwood -
subversion of the status quo.
In
recent years, architects have adopted techniques such as printing, pleating, folding, draping, and weaving to develop more
complex exterior surfaces, or skins, for their buildings, while fashion
designers have looked to architecture for ways to construct clothes with
greater volume and inherent structural integrity.
Westwood’s
work can be interpreted as architectural. Her clothes are always about volume,
the illusion of space and shapes.
The
Arch measuring 3m in height will consist of 30 linked panels each representing
one of these themes. Each panel will link together to form the iconic Westwood
platform shoe. 30 students and volunteers are currently responsible for
building and creating the art piece.
The 3D visualisations were created by my very talented friend, 3D artist, Victoria Caution.

My work spans across a mulit-disciplined and cross media background encompassing fine art to animation and it's these meanderings that caused me to be seduced by the dark side of digital ‘geekdom’ and pixel pushing.
To me it's all about image-making and the process. I would describe my work as esoteric and eclectic and I love to combine traditional hand-made 2D and 3D techniques with digital media.
The main body of my work now is fashion and editorial related of which I'm often involved in art direction as well as post-production.
My art direction, illustration, graphic design and digital post-production work has been featured in a few small ad campaigns and I contribute regularly to a few magazines.
