long time no blog! ...heres a recent piece i did for a group show in hk!

Hey so I havent written anything in a long long time! sorry! ive been experimenting a little bit and trying to get myself sorted in terms of moving, finding arty people and getting a show lined up. Anyway i managed to get involved in a group show that happened last week in soho. It only last 2 nights but was a great kick start with about 100 or so people each night plus press and even a tv crew... hopefully video interview will follow soon (after some HEAVY editing)!
Anyway i did this piece for the show which was running a circus theme event. I based my work on the idea of memory and the event. Im fascinated by the way memory breaks down and becomes fuzzy and the detail that the mind seems to be unable to retain. I love this idea of pulling all the individual lines out of a face and really highlighting the intricate detail which we miss / brush past in our every day lives / the main event.

Realised Ive been a bit slack with the blog updating recently... many apologies! Ive just got back to Hong Kong and started a new job but am getting back into drawing again. This is piece i did over last weekend and a few late nights - hope you like it! Just got it back from the framers a few days ago!
It seems im stearing more and more towards addressing the urban condition and the loss of culture within cities. I find the state of constant redevlopment in HK facinating but with all this development are we in danger of eclypsing the islands culture and history? It seems to happen more and more that temples get lost and overshadowed by huge skyscrapers. As cities expand and the world gets smaller do we lose track of our own identity? These are just some thoughts which are pretty hard to answer as surely we have to keep up developing / evolving but to what end and where does the line stop? With projects such as the potential redevlopment of Government Hill and the loss weve already had of Grade 1 listed buildings in HK I think its important to highlight the issue and maybe show some respect and restraint.
Anyway enough chat from me. Just thought Id throw some thoughts out there! Will try to be better with the blog and settle down now to get some more work down :)
