Hi all! Several of the alivenotdead artists have been talking about an upcoming event that we participated in last year, Jeanne Hartman's Hollywood Acting Class. Last year, Jeanne came to Hong Kong and did a professionals class that included Daniel Wu, 2R, Andrew Lin, Terence Yin, Josie Ho, Grace Huang, etc... they had so much fun that narom, Shan, and I all decided to try our hand at the amateur class.
I have to say -- it was ALOT of fun. Acting class is actually LIFE class. As an engineer-by-training, I sometimes have trouble reading and responding to people's expressions and I think it was a total brain workout to keep up with the really fun exercises and methods that Jeanne provided. I only did a three hour session, but came out mentally exhausted, but gratified...
In any case, I know that it's quite a challenge to get up and perform in front of people, but I really encourage everyone to check out Jeanne at the meetup on Wednesday and see whether you want to do a class. It's free and it's still worth hearing from her about her stories and background.... Check it out!

From the many recommendations I've received about T.V. shows to watch (besides just Heroes and The Daily Show), I decided to pick up House, M.D. -- I like medical dramas on occaision and it's produced by the Bryan Singer.
First, yes -- the dialogue is well-written and Hugh Laurie plays a fascinating character.
I'm a supporter of Asian-Americans in American entertainment, but I don't really carry the flag for PROTESTING against the lack of Asians or alleged racist representations because that's just not really my kind of thing.
Nonetheless, one thing stuck out like a sore-thumb to me.... when's the last time you ever went to a hospital in the U.S. (much less Princeton, New Jersey) and not see a single Asian or Indian medical doctor. Okay, so I've only watched the first two episodes, but there's not a single Asian doctor. Furthermore, and even more unbelievable, I don't think there's a single Jewish doctor character on the show either. It's so out-of-place that it's laughable...
Maybe it's just me...
Incidentally, as good as Hugh Laurie is, it doesn't seem to me to be a huge amount different from Law & Order or CSI or any police-procedural tv show formula, so I might drop it if it doesn't vastly improve over the next two or three episodes. Should I watch Gray's Anatomy instead?
