  • A girl and her dog

Once upon a time there was a baby girl whose family had a vicious looking bull dog named Mack. Most people feared this dog, but the baby girl loved him. As she was growing up and starting to walk, he was always with her, guarding her. She used him as a horse, a mattress, a pillow, whatever she needed at the time. Neighbors and friends questioned her parents about letting her be around such a dangerous dog, but they just said don't worry, Mack loves her.

Yep, that was me and my dog Mack. He's the reason I've always been such a dog person. It makes my eyes water just thinking about him.

As far as I know, this is the only picture that exists of him. You can see how vicious he was.

    Here's Mack and me:

I believe that there as many different personalities in our pets as there are in people.  You're lucky to have had such a wonderful dog who had good values and recognized that you were a child.  He looks like your guardian angel.  (Makes me tear up, too!)

So cute...thanks for sharing, Star!  =)

I have no memory of any drool, etc.  He was brindle colored, and was probably a mixed mutt, but my dad called him a bull dog.

My mom never allowed ANY kind of animal inside of our house, but a lot of people were like that back then, and animals roamed free.  When I was about 8 or 9, Mack slowly "took up" with a large family that lived a few blocks away.  I think they probably let him inside and gave him lots of snacks.  He would come home for a couple of days whenever anybody in my family was sick.  And when my brother died, and then my father (within 2 years of each other), Mack stayed around our house for about a week each time.  We were always amazed how he knew that somebody was ill, because we didn't even know that other family.

I had another dog, Skippy, for my middle and high school days, but that's another story.  :)
