On our road to self-discovery, either personal or professional, some of us could be fortunate enough to encounter people that cast a big influence on us or role models that we look up to. I met mine during my junior year in art college.
Robert Hunt, is a renowned illustrator in the US who has created numerous award-winning art pieces. I had gotten the most out of his teaching because he would push you to dig out all your potentials to break away from the expected. I was a big fan of his class demonstrations and could just spend hours studying every single detail on his artwork.
Here's one of those legendary pieces that you can't miss.

Another piece from his personal gallery.

My favorite is actually this looser style of painting presented under his "
Alter Ego" name to distinguish from his more established clientele.

And so it happened one day that I was asked by my respected mentor to model for one of his book cover projects. I guess I was more thrilled than being hired to do the illustration!

I stumbled upon Amazon last night and saw the final design of the
book cover. I love how the face got cropped.

Hello all!
So this is my first blog entry on Alive Not Dead and I'd like to start off with this recent project I did for a kindergarten. I was asked to do a 4 feet by 10 feet painting as a backdrop for the little kids' graduation stage performance. The theme is
Under The Sea. The idea is to create a seaworld background against which the children will dance around dressing up as sea animals!

My paintings are usually less bubbly so this is something new to me personally. Given the purpose of the artwork, it was loosely painted as opposed to my other meticulously done illustrations.

Here's a nice touch by my 4-year-old sister -- a school of fish. (she claimed they were having a birthday party)

A little treat for myself, look closer to see if you can find one of the fish biting off an arm.
