A native of "Vernon B.C." "Okanagan Valley" and related  water home of the mysterious lake creature the elusive "Oggopoggo" that's where female rocker "Darby Mills" hailed from."Vernon" is also a training ground recruits centre for the cadet forces boot camp. "Darby" was a familiar face after relocating from "Vernon" at "Vancouvers Outlaws Cabaret". She began to the top of "Canadian" rocks most distinctive + reconizeable singing voices in the mid "1970s". Doing mostly at 1st what she termed (Bee-Gees) short for backgrounds meaning background vocals for other rising upstart "Vancouver" bands. She + her future "Headpins" rocker friend band mates were constant whammer jammers before clicking as a regular full fledged + tight knit unit. this line up with "Canadian" icon vetran "Too Loud Macloud" on guitar whose nick stage name "Darby" had coined + with good guy "Frenchman Bernie Aubiin" on drums, would form up with bassist "Abe Bryant" to be a pernament fixture called "The Headpins" and the bands 1st stomping grounds as  the house band at "Outlaws" "Vancouvers" showcase rock + roll club. After a contract  signing up with "The Headpins" the group released their debut l.p. called what else but "Turn It Loud" in "1980" + began a 3 album run at the "Canadian" top of rock charts breaking major ground in the "States" + backed up as opening acts around the world through out the "1980s"."Darby Mills" also helped make the "Lock Up Your Sons" rock tour the stuff legends are made of . "Darby" was also featured in the duet "Cats + Dogs" with "Canadian" rock chick "Holly Woods"and her "Toronto" band on "Hollys" "Assault + Flattery" album in "1984". So after leaving "The Headpins" + replaced by chick rocker "Chrissy Steele" "Darby Mills" went to persue a solo career + released  her "Never Looking Back" debut l.p. in "1991" with her new band "Unsung Heroes"on "W.E.A." records.She returned to the "Headpins" when "Chrissy Steele" checked out + "Brian Macloud" died of cancer + is still with the band to this very day .

If there was an anthem for the volitile "1960s" it was "The Vandellas" hit song "Dancing In The S.T." As the tunes words go "Calling Out Around The World Are You Ready For A New Beat?" And "The Vandellas" sang the message loud and clear to a newly conscious generation in "1964". It was the bright clarion of a gutsy black girl group, a song sung of shocked experience. "Motown" genius mastermind "Barry Gordy" put this girl act on the map of his chosen planning they were long in the makings with their sweet musical success. And one of the main ingrediants in the "Motown" recipe for the hip "R.+ B." appitite. The talented girls recorded as teenagers under the "Checkmate" record label as "The Del-Phis" and the leader of the crew "Martha Reeves" was discovered 1st after a live performance at "Detroit Michigans" famed "20 Grand Club" by " A.+ R." chief "Mickey Stevenson". As the "Vandellas"  early studio work progressed "The Del-Phis" "Annette Sterling", "Rosalind Ashford", "Gloria Williams", and "Martha Reeves", debuted togeather as background voice for singing star "Marvin Gayes" hit song "Stubborn Kind Of Fellow". In "1962" bandmate sister "Gloria Williams" dropped out leaving them as a trio 3 they hit more success with the budding "Holland, Dozier, Holland" work team with the song "Come And Get These Memories". With the now "Martha Reeves + The Vandellas" line up and thier lusty  eloguence they soon made clear there was only one girl act on the scene. "The Vandellas" hold a very special thought for thier monster smash hit "No Where To Run" because it signifies,how "Martha" + her girls felt after seeing the young soldier teenagers 18 + 19 years old, return as war torn victimized and injured examples of the vicious "Vietnam United States" conflict of the "1960s"     

Close your eyes and you can see it alone a  silhouted figure standing high above a vast stage bathed in red it's clad in shorts a uniformed matching waist length jacket and white ankle socks, a guitar clutched in congruously in it's hand. The fingers move effortlessly over the strings peeling off a single, repeating loop of notes as hypnotic as they are penetrating, the knobby knee bobs in beat as if possesed by a mind all it's own. The head pulses in the same rhythm, long curly hair swirling around like a dark halo.The rest of the band kicks in to the song the singer raises the microphone to sing and "Angus Youngs" S.G. rocks into a metalic boogie with "A.C.D.C." In early days the "Australian" rockers were fronted by a singing tough force of nature known as "Bon Scott" who could arguably make any venue no matter how big feel like a local pub with his intimate rapport and sordid, last call sense of howling, entertainment story telling. This was "Angus Youngs" band one of the most electrifing and toe tapping guitar players in the rock music world "Angus" with a clutch of classic rock and roll songs under his belt and one of rocks true showman icons. Of course "Bon Scots" time was long gone a victim of his own excesses in "1980" his lurid come hither snarl greatly missed but repaced by his buddy bravado of brawny scream "Brian Johnson" a recomended "Bon Scott" associated friend. Drummer "Chris Slade" in the engine room having followed both original drummers "Phil Rudd" + "Simon Wright" bassist "Cliff Williams"  and of course "Angus Youngs" brother "Malcom Young" on the other guitar.Were still in place after a quarter of a century as the granite core of "Angus's" rock and roll mountain, whach the expressions on "Angus Youngs" face in boogie mode as he tortures those scorching leads out of his "Gibson S.G."  burgundy guitar. This is an individual who is bred to perform on the stage live, in a cluttered world of over produced studio creations and faux outlaws "Angus Young" is still every inch the real macoy raw feel no holds barred  metal boogie player steeped in blues and good old rock and roll dalmation.
