    These are the pictures to my entries about the Beijing trip in December 2008 - here and  here. 

    I caught a "Beware of Beijing"-vibe, before I even got there. Sam, my host, didn't want me to walk around alone but he had to let me off the leash twice (he got caught up at work). And yes, the first attempts to get directions in the streets ended with people virtually running away or cabdrivers giving up on me. But after a while, I just targeted good-looking men in uniform (they were all very willing to help but even if they couldn't they were at least adorable to look at with the blushing and writhing and all) or old people (who would always jump a passerby (or two or three) for me to pump them for English language skills and/or information. Needless to say, I really enjoyed Bejing and liked the people. Will go back as soon as possible.

    Yeah, sleeping "al fresco" can't be pleasant.  How do they winterize the establishment....substitute a flannel sheet door for the summer cotton sheet door?

    What's their nightly rate?
