Shanghai artist ChaCha and DJ Drunk Monk debut performance in Singapore at Singapura Dub Club

October 25. 2014 - One of China’s most sought after experimental artist, ChaCha will perform an intimate showcase on the last Sunday of this month at Singapura Dub Club @ Artistry 17 Jalan Pinang. The Guizhou born Singer and emcee lends her smooth vocals to everything from Reggae to Hiphop to Bass heavy electronic music. A member of Shanghai’s Uprooted Sunshine SoundSystem and Sub-Culture crew, ChaCha as recorded with the likes of Kode9, Clive Chin (VP Records), Jahtari, Desto and Jimi Tenor, as well as her AM444 project alongside producer JaySoul. ChaCha was the first ever mainland Chinese participant at the Redbull Music Academy 2011 in Madrid and has showcased at Rototom Sunsplash in Spain, Sakifo Festival on Reunion Island and Worldtronics Festival in Berlin. International music audiences are anticipating her upcoming solo project Faded Ghost.

Also at the Singapura Dub Club in October, DJ Drunk Monk, one half of the founding members of The Shelter, one of the first institutions for Hiphop, Reggae and Electronic Music in China. Drunk Monk founded the soundsystem Uprooted Sunshine, and spearheaded the collective by touring with the likes of Clive Chin around China. His Sub-Culture nights have become notorious in Shanghai where dub step and bass heavy, darker music have found a home. SmartShanghai.com notes “DJ Drunk Monk is both years ahead of anyone here on the new music and also has a deep knowledge of rare gems...playing some unforgettable sets at Singapura Dub Club happens every last Sunday of each month, bringing together a community of Dub, Reggae and Bass music lovers to network, eat and dance. The event debuts international artists and DJs, often for their fist time in Singapore. The October Dub Club also features Lush FM Mix DJs Jean Reiki and Darren Dubwise, as well as Rumshot of Dub Skank’in Hifi. Live performances opening the night include Singapura Dub Club co-founder, Masia One together with her Reggae band The Irietones - fresh off their tour representing Singapore at Asia Music Festival in Sarawak, Malaysia. The Ragga Wacka Dancers, Singapore’s first Dancehall dancer crew will also be dancing up a storm and something not to be missed.

Doors open at 6pm with an outdoor Artist Market, Caribbean flavored BBQ and Live Painting.
