  • Work life in HK

    Wednesday, Sep 19, 2007 11:37PM / Members only

It has been 6 months since i came back to HK.....Once i get off the plane, and a coupe of days later, i received a call for a temp job!! What a difference this six months make, at the beginning i had a specific reason to come back (Family) and now all seems to go well with my life!

Working the whole time without a holiday , i really feel stressed out / over-work lately..what a difference fom a temp staff to full time staff la..Now that we are growing our team and dividing the duties, I am responsible for the support of non-HK business, working closely with a relationship manager to take are all the business of non-HK referrers!! This week have been SUPER busy, working til 7pm++ every night! It's crazy, not that i want to claim overtime or try to stay behind. The fact is that i HAVE to stay in order to clear out some work and emails....just yesterday i got 40 emails, and it's SOO scary!! I mean, it's great that work is busy as time is going by faster and i can add value to the team, but i think i'm just overwork at the moment. Really in need of a vacation....hmm, really want to get away from the fast-pace environment of HK.

Work life in HK is definitely different from Canada! Must be rare to find a job that is 9-5 hours. It seems everyone is more INTO their jobs and basically life is about work! Luckily i get to work only 5 days per week and with flexible hours...but honestly, overtime is a MUST in HK..can't even get things done in a 8 hours day.

Vacation: since i passed my probation, i get start to take my holidays. Hmm...i really don't want to stay in HK if i take my holidays....but where can i go??? Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Maylasia are all places that i have friends in, but they are all busy with work/school. ahhhhhh.

tomorrow will be another crazy day at work!

  • TVB stars in Mong Kok

    Wednesday, Aug 15, 2007 10:26PM / Members only

After work today, I went to Mong Kok to shop...

I can't believe the amount of PEOPLE in Mong Kok!!!  I actually regret that i went there, i should of gone to Causeway Bay instead.....

I walked around trying to find a tennis raquet...i totally got LOST!!!! Everywhere seems soo simliar. I walked over to "Women's street" and it changed soo much. They don't even sell cheap stuff any more!! I wanted to check out some bags but they are brandname wannable bags .

Walking on a bridge going to New Century Mall, i saw TVB filming and saw LINDA CHUNG and STEVEN MA!!! Wow..they were so close to me. It is the second time i saw Linda (first time at a concert) and she is soo cute and beautiful.....very ladylike!! I am a fan of her after watching her at Heart of Greed.  As for Steven Ma, he looks good in real life....

Wow, in HK is easy to see star....Gigi Leung, Ana R, Amanda S......

  • Summer

    Thursday, Jul 26, 2007 8:38PM / Members only

Summer in Hong Kong is crazy!!!! I think the worst was in June when the weather changed from rainy to HOT...it was so hard for me to adjust. Now that it is end of July, i am still ALiVE..haha.

I love Sai Kung. I feel that it's like a village and it doesn't seem like HK at all. There are so many westerners there that i feel like being in North America. The beach that we always go is THE BEST! It's soo worth it to take a hike (45 mins) and reach the beach! I enjoy snokeling, it's soo much fun and there are actually fishes, corals and crabs in HK beaches!!

    Enjoy your summer!!

I really want to try waveboard....
  • Future?!?!

    Tuesday, Jul 10, 2007 9:39PM / Members only

It has been four months since i came back to Hong Kong. Time have gone by SOOO fast!!!

Overall, i have been very lucky to find a job so fast.......I am enjoying my job at the moment and i think it's a great opportunity. How many people who graduated in hotel management will go on working for a foreign bank..

It's so great to sit in the office now better than working at the busy coffee shop before. Why didn't i never try to explore my abilities and just stay at the same job for soo long (over three years)? Am I afraid of change or the future?? Then what makes me to suddenly move back to HK...=probably because of family. I always think that being alone in Canada for 7 years is just too much...It's kind of funny but many people at my age wants freedom, but for me..i would like to spend time with family, close friends and work hard.

I think now that i'm in HK, i have maintain better friendships with my good friends from Canada.. u know who you are. Thank you!!!  I don't know if it is my personality or what, friends are willing to open up their inner thoughts with me. Maybe because i'm very straight-forward and honest!!  And i think true friends should be like that..no need to lie or only say positive comments...

So what does the future holds for me:

Right now, i will just forcus on work and becoming a student (part-time) again soon and enjoy life!!...........

    Bye bye for now!!

  • A busy Wednesday

    Wednesday, Jul 4, 2007 10:38PM / Members only

    Hello everyone ~

Work was super busy today: Ah yah!!!!

    -Monthly reports in the morning
    -preparing of the loan documents
-weekly introducer reports in the afternoon

in between those 'duties', i also have to answer calls on mine and my boss' phone calls.

Crazy....at the worst thing was that when i got off work at 7pm and the bus was FULL...I had to stand the whole way back home............

Time seems to go by way faster here in HK. After dinner, i only have a couple of hours to rest (which i often just watch TVB and go online). Then time to sleep . The next day will be the same all over again!!

    good nite !!
