The experience was exhilarating as I watched the performance by French street theatre company Iltotopie.  Titled "Water Fools", the performance was brought to the water and what better place than the Singapore River.  It is amazing to see the performers walking and driving on the river!

    The storyline of the performance

In a mystical and magical journal, a man travels to Singapore’s popular waterfront, arriving in a sputtering little car. His car breaks down, so he gets out and reads a paper. Meanwhile, a passing cyclist sprays water into his face and then his head suddenly bursts into flames.

Phantasmagoric and whimsical water creatures loom from the river, as fireworks unfold in an aquatic extravaganza. Giant mechanical sets that turn everyday objects into fantastic machines, as they take the man beyond the wildest dreams of his humble car ride into a dazzling opening show at the Singapore Arts Festival.

Focus on those stuff floating on the river.  I did not have a tripod with me so it turned out a bit blur.

My heart jumped when I saw fireworks sprouting from the water.

    And more fireworks ...

It was so crowded that I could only catch a glimpse of the performers after the whole performance.

The closing celebration is unfortunately not at Singapore River but will be held at the Bedok Reservoir.

My most memorable was fireworks lasting at least an hour in Tokyo.  We left the bay area just before the crowd built up and went for dinner when the fireworks display was on.  Finished dinner and walk back to hotel and the fireworks was still on.  We got to see the fantastic display while walking back to the hotel.
