Lights out

Today the lights went out because some store was blasting music so loud that it caused a small explosion on the light post.  Not sure but I think it's the transistor??   Anyway, even though it was a small explosion which took 15 minutes to fix this evening, we were without electricity for around 4 hours.

I did some house hunting this past weekend, didn't see anything I liked.... more house hunting during the week.  We did see one that was te...Read more

Snap Crackle Pop

When I was small I used to love cereals, not just for eating but for the toy inside the box too.    I like Kelloggs cereals best..... all of them, Frosted Flakes, Cocoa Krispies, Corn Pops, Fruit Loops.  But of all, the cutest cartoon on the box is Snap Crackle Pop.... the 3 elves on the Rice/Cocoa Krispies box.  I love their names.... it kinda represents how I'm feeling when I'm under stress..... like I'm gonna snap, crack, or pop under pressure... hahaa

Sorrel & Baking

This morning when I bought the Gleaner, I noticed there was a Christmas cookbook included.  Lots of recipes including one for sorrel.  I love drinking Sorrel during the holidays!  It's a dark red spiced flavour drink, usually with alcohol.  This is what sorrel looks like:

This is for janechu who's post inspired me to share some of my collections.

Some are from fast food meals, others I bought just because they were cute.  I recently slowed down on collecting because I was running out of display space so I started storing them in plastic containers.

Miscellaneous miniatures collected.Read more

Sunday happenings

It was slow at work yesterday.  A lot of family friends stopped by to do their Christmas shopping..... didn't really feel like a work day at all.    Afterwards, we went for Haagen Dazs with A's friend who's visiting from Canada.  The place was packed.... looks like everyone had the same idea for ice-cream.   Then went to sis house for dinner.  Her husband made lobster salad and fried chicken.  Ahh.... very yummy, I had a huge serving.   It ...Read more

Random work thoughts

I think the stress of working for yourself versus working for others is very different.  They both have their own set of stresses.  When I was at my other jobs, at the end of the day I'd finish up my work and, most often than not, leave my work behind when I reached home.  Even though I  cared very much about my job..... the stress level is not as high and I'm able to convert to "relax" mode much quicker.  Now even when I'm supposed to be relaxed, my mind is never far from my work.  It's like there's always ...Read more

I Made It!!

I made it through NaNoWriMo 2007 and I'm sooo HAPPY!    I checked my word count yesterday and it was 62,298.  Gosh, I guess I got carried away and didn't even know that I had passed the required amount.  All those late night sessions with coffee really did pay off.  And also just focusing on the story and not the word count...Read more

Holiday Classics

Every year I try to watch the 25 Days of Christmas on ABC Family.  I love their classic Christmas shows along with the newer movies.  I know a lot of their shows are for the little kids, but I look forward to watching them.   Shows like "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" and "Frosty's Winter Wonderland" I still enjoy watching.  Kinda silly but don't know why I still enjoy it....  Oh, I enjoy the other movies as well..... like &quo...Read more

Dad's Birthday Dinner

On Saturday night, we went out for dinner to celebrate my Dad's birthday.  Don't know what the reason was but the traffic was crazy and a lot of the restaurants that we went to were packed.  I had forgotten to make a reservation, but luckily we were able to get a table at the third restaurant we went to.     Thank goodness!

The dinner was good and I had a pina colada.  YUM!  They make the best pina coladas there.    After dinne...Read more
