Pirate Talk

Ahoy Mateys!!

Apparently, today is " International Talk Like a Pirate" day.  I'll be honest, my knowledge of pirate speak, customs etc. are limited to what I see when I watch Pirates of the Caribbean.     However, after browsing the site a bit.... it does teach you how to talk like a pirate.  There are even pirate pick up lines... some of them quite suggestive I think.  LoL!  Well, I guess you'd have...Read more

The past week have been so hectic that it just blends everything into a big blur.  So much has happened that it doesn't feel like just a week has passed.   I'm trying to put things into perspective but it seems impossible at times.  The most significant thing being that my Uncle died last week.  Then while trying to cope with the shocking news, we had to prepare for Tropical Storm Gustav.  While the storm came and went without any damages, at times I still find it hard to grasp the fact my Uncle is actually gone.  The whole family is going th...Read more

Being blocked in...

Last Friday, I went by RWE Centre to pick up someone from a concert.  The traffic was so bad at the gates since no one was directing the cars going in and out.  When we finally got in through the gates, the cars were moving alright and then we stopped.  So we waited.... and waited.... and waited..... the cars in front still weren't moving.  We were there in line waiting for over 30 minutes when we realized that two of the cars in front were parked...... what idiot would park their car in the middle of the entrance and leave... I went to the finals for the National Dance Festival today where my niece was taking part in 3 dances... a Folk, a Modern and a quartet.   The competition was pretty tough.  The winners from each parish compete for the trophies for each category.  I heard the results a few minutes ago, she got trophies for 2 of the dances.  I'm so happy for her and the team, they worked so hard at the practices and all.  They deserved it!

I took some pictures but they mostly came out blurry, it was the sam...Read more

Hurricane Season

We're only 3 days into the hurricane season and there's already a Tropical Storm Arthur that was formed on May 31.   It's very rare that a tropical storm would develop before the start of the Hurricane season on June 1.  I hope it won't be an active Hurricane season this year, but then again the weather has been really wacky lately.  The last few days has been rainy and bleaky.  Yesterday, I got caught on the road with no umbrella and got soaking wet.  I hope I don't get sick.  Well, today the sun is actually peaking out ...Read more

Some interesting info...

I wanted to share this with you.  This was something I received in an email, I don't know how accurate it is but still an interesting read.**** Where to be During an EarthquakeRemember that stuff about hiding under a tabel or standing in a doorway?? Well, this guy has a completely reverse opinion. This is very interesting, different from what we were all taught. Boy! Is this ever an eye opener. Directly opposite of what we've been taught over the years! I can remember in school being told to, 'duck and cover' or sta...Read more

Every bit helps!

I've been reading and seeing a lot on the earthquake in China.  It's really sad and I can't even imagine how those affected must feel.  They are in the thoughts and prayers of many all over the world.  Wherever we are, we can help out.  I found out today that we can make our donations to the Chinese Embassy here.  I have made a donation and many of my friends will too.  I hope everyone can MAKE A CONTRIBUTION... no matter how small or insignificant you think it is.... IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

If there are no centres...Read more
