Last Thursday, I filled in as a receptionist for a few hours at my sister's office.  I've never done it before but it was manageable....... heh heh, quite boring.  All I did was to answer the phone  and pull files.

    Updates on the new place:

    *  I got my stove installed yesterday.
    *  Sectional that we ordered arrived yesterday, just waiting to have it delivered.
    *  Refrigerator ordered but not here yet.
    *  Dining chairs to arrive any time now.
    *  Decided to change the colour of my bedroom.  I'll be re-painting it tomorrow.

Things are moving along, so should be finished and able to move in soon.  Also, I'm going to have to find a "good" day to move in.  I don't know how to select a special day so I'll leave that to my parents.

Hmm, what other "rituals" do I need to do to move in?  I've been hearing so much stuffs from family friends.  Some of them are conflicting with what I've heard before.  In terms of the placement of furniture, especially the bed.  It's mostly feng shui stuffs, like the bed is not to be placed by a window and must be far from the door, it should be placed against a solid wall etc.  I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but I like to decorate based on what I think looks good, which may or may not be feng shui appropriate.   I'll try to work with what I already heard.  I don't want to look for additional info because that's going to make the move so much more difficult.   At the end of it, whatever the placement of the furniture.... all that matters is that the home will be a comfortable place where I can rest and relax, right?  I hope no one will be offended that I didn't follow their advice on certain furniture placements.

Feng shui or not, no matter what the rules, if you don't like it then you won't be able to feel comfortable or at ease. Place the furniture the way you like it, it's you who is living there.

Yeah office work can be pretty boring.  Sounds like everything is really coming together with the new place.  What color are you repainting your bedroom in?  Feng shui dictates that you shouldn't have the foot of your bed facing towards the door and you should center it in your room if at all possible.  You should also have a good solid headboard to give you stability.

We need follow a few Fengshui stuff in our home we are bit superstitious hee. Such as the bed cannot be directly facing a mirror. Bed is located in the opposite angle of the door...but we feel more comfortable like this even not to do with Fengshui.

yea... I've heard a few of the feng shui things for bedrooms... the bed doesn't have to be far from the door... but the bed shouldn't face the door and it shouldn't be under any kind of light fixture or wood beams... it's not good for you...

but of course it's what works best for your room and as long as you're comfortable... it's good... =)

Really? You're concerned about which day to move in? That's so old-fashioned and superstitious! Aiya! I guess ya gotta please the parents. About furniture placement - whatever works for you and makes good sense and use of space. If you really need/want to get into fengshui, you'll have iron chimes all over the place.
