  • ANI-COM...more like ANTI-COM

    Sunday, Aug 2, 2009 10:43PM / Standard Entry

So, some of us went to the Comics and Games Fair known as Ani-Com 2009.

It sucked.  It was literally wall to wall people.  So packed, in fact, that we didn't get to browse or look or anything.  We ended up eating hot dogs and imitation shark fin soup instead.

We also got a glimpse of this new crazy coca-cola.  Once you open, it....it freezes to give you an ultra "cool" drinking experience.  Check the video evidence.

But the real highlight was that we got to see our favorite dance troupe, BEAT TRIX perform.  Congrats on a job well done, guys!

  • MY FIRST

    Wednesday, Jul 29, 2009 1:09AM / Standard Entry

Here in Hong Kong, there have been a series of "firsts" in my life.

FIRST CITY in ASIA that I've EVER Lived In

This is my first time living in Asia, and I must say that Hong Kong is an amazing city.  Couldn't imagine living anywhere else at this moment in my life.

FIRST TIME BEING A RAPPER AND AWARD WINNER

Thanks to the shitty process that is finding a place to live in HK, we were able to create a song and MV out of it.  Shout out to ISHK!

FIRST TIME DANCING IN THE STREETS

This is my first video to ever appear on youtube from Hong Kong.

FIRST TIME PUTTING TOGETHER A TV PILOT WITH A GROUP OF STRANGERS

CB FRESH was born on a Wednesday night at Speak Up.  We just pretty much said, "F it.  Let's do something.  OK."

Here is the trailer that we cut YEARS ago (it seems):

    FIRST TIME BEING an AMBASSADOR

    Shanghai White and Fam represent!

    And now, the newest "First."

    FIRST TATTOO

This is my first tattoo.  We were at the HK Book Fair supporting PHAT and his new book TAT ADDICTS.  PHAT was giving a presentation in cantonese, and all of a sudden, Rob tells me that they are looking for people to get a tattoo.  So I say, ok.  I get up there, and guess what?  They were going to do it right then and there.  At the book fair.  In front of over 100 people.  WHAT?

Here is the first strike with the tattoo machine.  I was not prepared for the PAIN!

Rob Lok helping bear the pain.  "Just breathe....breathe....yes, that's good.

And below, is the final product.  My last name on my right buttock.

And the man "behind"  my first tattoo.

    Here is the vid:

  • AWARD WINNING FILMMAKERS CELEBRATE THE NIGHT AWAY

    Monday, Jul 6, 2009 3:00AM / Standard Entry

    For Immediate Release
    Hong Kong
    July 3, 2009

CB FRESH and Bamboo Star have officially become award winning film makers as they pulled off a tough victory in the Music Video category of the 2009 I SHOT HONG KONG FILM FESTIVAL with their original song and video, WHERE DO WE GO (WHERE IS HOME).

The raucous festivities began on July 1 at the Opening Premiere screening where hooligans of the video made a naughty appearance.

(from L to R: suave simon, jaunty jun, juxtaposed jason, dangerous don, dominant derrick)

Jason Tobin was quoted all night as saying, "Mong Kok, Bitch!"

Also, many fabulous people showed up to support the Festival.

The festival was really nice, and Simon was looking really hot," said supermodel Grace Huang.
Vince Matthew Chung, winner of The AMazing Race, had this to say, "If I could choose, I would choose to be SImon."
Min Yoo of Racks and ChiSeen fame was quoted as saying, "I look just like him, so I am really stoked about that."
THe beautiful Celina Jade and wonderful SImon Birch simultaneously exploded with, "OMG, it's SImon and he is FIERCE!"

After the screening, the after party was hit hard by the Tropical Storm Bamboo Star.  These young ladies were lucky to survive.

Flash forward to Friday July 3, 2009.

THe Awards Reception and Wrap party were held at the swanky and totally fabulous W hotel, where CB FRESH was also there to celebrate their ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY.

As the clock struck 10:43pm the award for best music video was announced.  And the winner is....WHERE DO WE GO (WHERE IS HOME)!

As you can see, Simon Yin accepted his award very graciously.  But in a rare moment of clarity and sincerity, Simon had this to say,

"Thank you to everyone who supported us over the year.  CB FRESH, thank you.  Thank you to everyone who came out to be a part of the video, we love you.  J2D2, thanks for the music, brothers!  ISHK,  you have the hottest chicks I have ever seen.  Congrats to everyone who participated in the Festival.  We are all winners tonight...anyone want to buy a FINAL CUT STUDIO 2 package?"

To cap off the night, Bamboo Star was asked to perform their #1 single (and by number one, it means their ONLY one).

The mic was rocked...and so was Shairah, the Lyrical Mistress.  Meow.

Overall, the week was absolutely fantastic and the team at I SHOT HONG KONG deserved all the credit for making it happen.

Once again, congratulations go out to all the filmmakers and all the attendees of the Festival.  Derrick Fong summed up the night perfectly by stating, "Together, we can make movies."

On a side note, Craig Leeson was overheard talking to a tall blonde, "Hey, I'm Craig Leeson, and I'm awesome."

    We whole heartedly agree.
