Miami, here I come!

Haven't managed to get a blog done for a while because I've been chained to my studio working on a new exhibition. This next show, 'Raw And Loved', opens in Miami on May 9th at an awesome new gallery called AE District, right in the middle of Miami's famous design district. Here's some preview shots as we got the work packed up and shipped off and I'll add more when I get there next month.
I had some work show in LA last month with much success but the Miami show is my first major solo show in the States so very excited about it.

The artist at work, looking a bit grump but quite happy really.

This is the latest work and it's progression over a few days.

A finished new one.

Studio is a mess, I've been here 24/7 for the last few months.

Crating guys packing the works, 20 new paintings.

On the truck and ready to roll.

Miami better get ready, here we come!

these paintings look awesome

interesting seeing how it started off and built up

must get people who dont know ur work looking at that all what the hell are you doing what is THAT? big surprise in the end.

Congratulations on the solo show in Miami. There are some high rollers in the Miami-Palm Beach communities (even now they seem to have money), so I expect you will have big sales. Even more important, I think US folks will finally understand who Simon Birch is and what his art is about (but with enough mystery remaining to bring them back for more). I wish I was closer and could take a look in person, but Miami is still 1,000 miles from home. But I'm sure there'll be a next time--next stop, NYC!

A full time artist, Simon Birch is a young Hong Kong artist who's made a huge impact with his energy and vision in the last few years. Apart from his critically acclaimed, dramatic paintings, he's managed to produce overwhelming installations, curated wonderful exhibitions, collaborated with leading artists, produced high profile commissioned works....the list goes on, needless to say Birch is one passionate, motivated man.

Of Armenian descent, born in Brighton in 1969, Birch began painting at a very early age, he is self taught. He has pursued a versatile career, which has included design, music and sport, but he has continued to paint throughout his life. He has been a resident in Hong Kong since 1997. Birch is also well know as a DJ and graffiti artist, his ‘Naughty Monkey’ work receiving much acclaim in the Hong Kong media. He also part owns Yumla, the most happening bar in Hong Kong.
