my chinese first name - 思琪

a chinese friend translated my real name Silke by its phonetics into 斯儿珂...

What do you think?

Edit: my friend Agnes proposed "思琦"  - which I prefer

Edit(2): Ruth refined Agnes proposal to: 思琪  - which is even better I think

Thanks a lot my friends!!

Oh, jz so so, Silky, I would recommend "思琦" for you, this is more like a Chinese name, "斯儿珂" sounds more like a direct translation. Trust me, I'm an traslation major. Anyway, up to your own choice. LOL

we all have chinese names now woohooo!!! wen I lived in taiwan I was referred to yang su-mei, my family's last name is YANG as in mu-yang... mountain goat as it is written, and su-mei meant light as in a ray of light something like that, but "abigail" is the one on my photo album cover with the chinese gurl on it. My bf name is the one written in chinese on the "my inspiration" cover. take care 斯儿珂 or 思琦 which ever u prefer the most.....

Congratulations! I think both names are good. Actually, in a lot of places in Asia having a foreign sounding names isn't bad at all. In fact, it could be a case of "hip to be foreign" and get you preferential treatments and reactions. It's rather different than say, in the United States where being foreign and especially having a foreign name can be a bit of a bad thing, especially if you're going through high school, for example. Could invite a lot of harassment. But yes, 思琦 is very nice indeed. Very how should I say... cultured and literate.

Haha your chinese name is pretty nice. Just a few variations for you to consider. 思琪 思齐 丝祺 丝琪 The pronunciations of the following names are more similar to the pronunciation of your name, if I am not wrong. 思珂 斯珂 思恳

The first 4 are pronounced as Si [1] Qi [2]. 5th and 6th are pronounced as Si[1] Ke[1]. Last one pronounced as Si[1] Ke-n[3].

I need to track down & install a program that will display Chinese characters on my computer. I was given a link to it once, should have done it right then! Good luck with your choice. :)
