Shann (/ʃɑːn/ ) is of Eurasian decent, (mother Indian, father Swedish) born in Düren, Germany 1987.
She turned a year old and grew up in Sweden till the age of seven, later crossing the world over to Indonesia where she lived for four years before landing in Hong Kong at the age of twelve.
From recreating figments of her vivid imagination as a child, work progressed and developed over the years reaching a more personalized and individual level around the age fourteen, pulling from the real noise of everyday modern life.
Using paint and photo manipulation, Shann created hundreds of intense visuals through introspection or observation of events around her.
Her work has also been selected and published in a few online art magazines including Burrow Magazine (www.burrowmag.com – New York) and Inside-Artzine, (http://www.inside-artzine.de/ - Germany), including Galleri Magazine Hong Kong.
Her works are primarily of mixed media. Having a taste for the looseness of ink washes, and the rawness of imperfect pen and brush strokes, she likes to draw the viewer into the soul and pulse of the work. She loves using deep reds, cyan to deep blues coincided with blacks in a lot of work to convey the feels of her work.
Today she continues to create her work in her own time, inspired by the details that form the various responses to life, and through exploring her fascination with the deeper darker recesses of human subconscious.
Commonly described as dark, haunting yet reaching otherwise ethereal, some works may be found disturbing if not reflective in the viewer - potentially opening the eye to the beauty of the unimaginable.
