Serena C to host charity sale

SERENA C (right) is turning 30 this month. Instead of throwing a birthday party, she intends to hold an auction to make a difference.

This mix.fm deejay is hosting the Super Chic Sunday, a charity sale at Plaza Mont’ Kiara this Sunday, from noon to 5pm.

At the event, Serena and her celebrity friends will be auctioning off some of their prized outfits and fashion accessories.

The money raised will go to the Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO), which runs a refuge for abused women and their children.

Serena hopes to give the less fortunate a chance at a better life with this charity event.

Two months prior to the Super Chic Sunday, mix.fm listeners were urged to log on to the station’s website and click on the celebrity icon of choice to view the items placed on auction. Bidding for the items will take place this sunday.

Among the celebrities participating at the event are Asha Gill who will be selling cupcakes for charity; Carmen Soo who donated a Dior bag going for RM300+; Xandria Ooi offering a Thomas Sabo black onyx-style charm bracelet; Atilia giving a vintage full-sequined dress; and Noryn Aziza offering a beaded clutch.

This is the chance for fashionistas and bargain hunters to own a piece of their favourite celebrity at a discount!

Visitors will also be entertained by Malaysian blues and jazz singers such as Elvira Arul, Noryn Aziz, Ferhad and Atilia, who have come in to lend their support.

There will be booths offering music, movie and clothes (ranging from RM10, RM50, RM100, RM150 per item) as well as loads of fun and games. It’s also a chance for fans to meet their favourite celebrities and the mix.fm team.

6:00 am morning of my brother's birthday I roll up to work at the radio station half asleep and cursing life as usual. As soon as I open up my twitter page - a barrage of tweets about MJ's death floods thru! I think to myself surely this is a hoax.
6:55 am CNN confirms that the King of Pop is indeed dead - cardiac arrest. Paramedics found no pulse when they went to his home. And then I remember this video where he announced his July tour dates in London:

I start shivering all over - could it have been a premonition?
Someone said on twitter - talent trumps controversy.
As much as his life was filled with loneliness and scandals, he left us with a legacy that is priceless and will go on for generations to come I'm sure.
I can't remember the amount of calls we received about your MJ moments but I bet each and everyone of us had at least one.
My brother used to guard his BAD cassette with his life and sing to the King's songs in the room (thinking we couldn't hear). And I used to hide his cassette every chance I could get.
He turned out alright (my brother).

Butt Hole Road renamed by residents

Butt Hole Road in Conisbrough, South Yorkshire has been renamed by its residents to Archers Way, it has emerged.
Locals spent £300 for the official name change after getting tired of jokes about the street, the Daily Mail reports.
It was believed to have been named after a communal water butt previously situated in the area.
Pensioner Elizabeth Brennan, who uses the street for access, said: "It was a bit tedious having the street laughed at all the time. The new name is much nicer."
Paul Allott moved out of his house on the road in 2003 after complaining of "people flashing their bottoms for photographs by the drive" and others making mocking phonecalls.
However, an internet petition has been set up to change the name of the street back to Butt Hole Road.

Serena was thrust into the world of radio when the clock struck 00:00 Jan 1, 2000. To describe her life as a rollercoaster ride since then - total understatement! Almost 10 years on, she'd had the privilege of interviewing the world's as well as Asia's top artists. She also landed a stint on TV as a VJ and talk show host. Currently she struggles to wake up at 4am to co-anchor a breakfast radio show, and struggle to stay awake to host events - and she's loving every bit of it! (Maybe except the waking up part).

Serena lives, breathes, eats MUSIC and has nothing but respect, admiration and awe for those with the innate ability to create little miracles everyday through music - some not even realizing they'd touched someone's life just by doing that.
