I don`t think you have the same interpretation of that second sentence as I do. I kinda thought Ellen was referring to our mental rooms - and all we see are the cracks and the blemishes and the wrong color and....maybe instead we should look at ourselves and see our own potential. Maybe we don`t need thousands of dollars of work (although for me a facelift would help hahaha) but maybe we just need a new self-perspective? Of course if she was actually talking about of residential structures we are both entirely fucked -- LOTTERY TIME!
I don`t think you read that the same way that I did. I read `rooms of our lives` as something other than looking at cracked walls and heating systems. I think we both are sturdy well-built women but the when we look at the rooms of our lives we are so self-critical. I think Ellen was saying look at ourselves and see our own potential. A lot of that is just a change of outlook so it is free. But I was just reading that last sentence as metaphor. But yeah...if we are talking actual residential edifice....we BOTH gotta win the lottery to realize that potential. haha with a bit of a tear

To my ol` pal Seeker. May you have Happy and Healthy 2010. Here`s a good quote from Ellen Goodman:
We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives, not looking for flaws, but for potential.
You are full of potential. ahaha Happy New Year dear.
Thanks for your thoughtful stream of comments. I don't know about including artist. I've been debating if my photography is really even art. Sometimes I think I'm more of a craftsman than an artist. But that's another story. Happy holidays to you.
Hey there seeker mcseekington :) Hehe that's how I make up names LOL. Hubby is snorey mcsnorington :P It's nice that you'll have your son's visit to look forward to after the holidays. Glad you enjoyed the holiday sights in NYC.
haha... turning me in for the show would be my worst nightmare. =D when I watch the show and see how people make fun of the clothes, kinda makes me feel embarrassed already. LOL!!!!
