  • Peacocks & Magnolia by HouseofChabrier

    Tuesday, Jun 16, 2009 3:39AM / Standard Entry / Members only

I was browsing around looking at pics of magnolia trees & ran across this. Love the blend of colors & the idea of a peacock in a magnolia tree. I don't even know if peacocks go in trees. I've always thought of them as sort of earth bound birds. The only time I've seen them they've been strutting around on the ground, never have seen one in flight. I guess they must fly, or they wouldn't be called birds, right? Lol.

Edit: Whoa, they can fly into a tree, a low one anyway. Here's a link from youtube..

I know they fly too. One was perched atop our backyard fence and defecated a rather large one on the pavement. Then it flew off somewhere else when we scared it off.

They can get up on roofs too! I was just at two different zoos and an animal park this past week. All three had peacocks (and some peahens with peachicks(?)) all of which we saw up high. Actually saw one fly at the Cincinnati Zoo. I understand why they don't fly far, that big tail is hard to maneuver!
