I made it! I'm a bona fide Egyptologist (lite, anyway)! Click the pic to see my graduation gallery. Next up: PhD, baby. But yeah, that one will take awhile. Oh, and Glenn finished his first CD. Check out some samples at his band's Myspace. -- Tiye, M.A.

Oh my god, I can't believe it. I'm done with this quarter and this academic year. As of this Friday, I will have an MA in Egyptology. Now I don't have to worry about anything until September . . . except for studying for the 8 hour Middle Egyptian comp they suddenly decided we had to pass before the end of summer! Also, I have found an exciting new way to waste the vast amounts of free time I now have. Behold: ArtPad. Now, keep in mind while viewing this painting that a)I did it with a mouse, b)I did it with my right hand (*is left-handed*) and c)it took me about 10 minutes to do. Also, for those not initiated into the wackiness of the Amarna period -- yes, her head is supposed to look like that. I love that drawing playback feature so much. It makes even a quick and dirty drawing look pretty damn cool.

Google Earth is a neat program from google.com that lets you browse an interactive globe with (sometimes) high-res satellite images. My Levantine history professor uses it in class all the time to illustrate his lectures. Today he pulled it up on the screen and said, "I love Google Earth! It's like crack!" Hilarity and firm denials that he had actually tried crack ensued. Oh, and I just made my first animated icon!

I have before me a 2nd year review, hot off the presses. I'm getting my MA degree and moving on to the PhD program. My thesis got a grade of A from reader no. 1 and an "Acceptable" (meaning B or higher)from reader no. 2, who commented simply, "Interesting study. Several points well made. Clearly acceptable." All I have left to do now is survive this quarter and make sure all my professors do their job and hand in provisional grades early so I can graduate. *Does happy Bes dance* Will post with a more substantial update soon (I swear!).
