  • Komuzika this Friday + don't forget to vote!

    Tuesday, Nov 4, 2008 3:01PM / Standard Entry

Just a friendly reminder: I'll be performing this Friday night at the Blue Dahlia, along with Karin Anna Cheung, Big Phony and Tatum Jones. The night will once again be hosted by director/badass NaRhee Ahn.

If you're planning on coming out, you might wanna consider getting there early for dinner and grabbing yourselves some seats (I'll be doing that). From the looks of the Facebook invite, it's gonna be pretty crowded. In fact... yeah, if anyone gets there early and wants to save me a seat, that would be awesome... :/

    Here's all the info:

And don't forget, tomorrow is Nov. 4, which means if you haven't already voted by mail (like I did last week), you need to get yer ass out to your local polling place and exercise your right to be heard. You've heard it every-freaking-where, so I cannot fathom why anyone would not vote tomorrow, unless you are (a) so unbelievably dumb that you think one more vote won't affect your future or your kids' futures or your kids' kids' futures or (b) you are moving out of the country next week for good. Please. If we elect a president that likes using the word "gook," doesn't know how to use the internet or what a condom does, we will continue to be the political laughing-stock/whipping boy of the world.

Hopefully, we'll all have something to celebrate on Friday. See you then.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot... I'll be playing songs from all three albums - "Late Night Drives," "Radiant" and my upcoming third.

  • music video and production news

Some more music video news: "Sublingual" has been accepted into both the 9th Annual San Diego Asian Film Festival and the 28th Annual Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival. Both are happening in October.

Here's a screengrab from the Hawaii International Film Festival website... jam out w/ your clams out, Hawaii.

Also, I've finished arranging the instrumental parts for the next album. Please send good thoughts towards my old-ass computer so I can finish the album without it crashing and dying.

    Up next: vocal recording...

  • I Am Robot And Proud

    Friday, Sep 19, 2008 7:50AM / Standard Entry

A couple days ago, one of my favorite artists, I Am Robot And Proud, released his new album. This guy's music is amazing. It's all over my iPod. Needless to say, I've been waiting for his new album to drop like forever.

When I saw that the CD was only available by mail-order, I myspaced Shaw-Han, the man behind I Am Robot And Proud, and asked him whether it would ever be on iTunes. Well today, he actually replied.

    Whoa.

Apparently, the album is gonna be out on iTunes in a week or so. And he ended by saying, "listened to your stuff, great songs."

    Holy SHIET.

I didn't ask him to listen to them, but I guess it being MySpace and all, my songs were right there. And I guess he could just be being polite... of course, if that's the case, that's an awesome lie.

I wonder if I should tell him I've had his song as my ringtone since like the beginning of this year.

  • Blog: Tuesday, Sep 16

    Wednesday, Sep 17, 2008 10:30AM / Standard Entry

What's up people. Alright, it's been a long time since I posted something about music. I had a really busy summer. But despite my neglecting to post any updates, I've actually been working like crazy on my third album for the past month and a half.

    Here's proof:

See, 6.14 GB of new music so far. OK, not all of it's the actual album, a lot of it is just my sketches of the new album - experimenting, playing with new sounds and ideas, etc. This is actually gonna be kind of a departure for me in terms of sound and production. I know that some people will hear it and go, "what the hell is this?" But it's what's been turning me on artistically, so I know what I'm doing is right. Whether or not I'm creating something that people are actually going to enjoy, of course, is still up in the air.

Something that's been slowing me down, unfortunately, is my old-ass computer. I've had this thing for about five years now, and I bought it used, so it's about seven years old. Plus those first two years of its life were hard livin: it belonged to an aspiring porn producer who smoked a lot of weed while working on it. I know cause when I got it, all the dust and dirt that was stuck up in the fans reeked of it. Seven years is like a hundred in computer years, OK? It's even worse than dog years. In fact, if my computer were a dog, it'd be that dog that won the world's ugliest dog contest all those times. It'd be this guy:

And unlike the dog above, my computer isn't even winning any contests. The only thing I won for getting rid of all the porn and marijuana byproduct that my computer initially came with was a sense of relief.

At any rate, I thought I could get away with doing one more album on this computer and besides, I couldn't afford a new one. So I'm trying to make it last as long as I can. But it's been hard.

Here's a screenshot of the mixing window on my sequencer:

Those meters move like every five seconds. For all you non-music folks out there: that's not what's supposed to happen.

Anyway, I just wanted to post something to let you guys know that I'm working hard on my third record, and even though the sound is gonna be a little different, I think my songwriting is getting better than ever. So hopefully that'll balance out whatever makes you think "world's ugliest dog" about the production.

If not, well, you can kiss my ass. haha, just kidding (kind of).
