Last Friday was Rocco and Tiffany's grooming day. My babies are professionally groomed once a month...I've been taking them to the same local groomer for several years, the owners and I are close friends.

The owner's son, who is Autistic, is participating in a special olympics program. He needs to raise enough money to participate, so I gave him $10 dollars. I told AF about it afterwards and his response was:

AF: "what? you only gave $10?"

Me: "yeah...is that not enough?"

AF: "that is very stingy of you! your mani/pedi costs more than $10!"

Me: "well...I didn't think about it like that...everybody else gave $10 so I gave $10...except for a rich Hillsborough lady who gave $50"

AF: "it's alright~ it's for a good cause...btw, can you call Joe (owner)?"

Me: "what for?"

AF: "can you call Joe and ask for a receipt so you can get tax deduction? bah! hahahahaha, you can get tax write-off for your $10 dollars"

har har har... I can't believe he made fun of me!

is $10 really not enough?

depends how strongly you feel about the cause, and what your financial situation is like. if i'm financially tight, i'd tend to give much less.

it really depends... i used to give $20-30 but then EVERYONE who did walks/ runs/ jogs etc for many good causes started coming to me. i'd have 10 people coming to me in 1 month asking for sponsors!!! it all adds up, so now i give them only $5-10 so that my money is spread out over more events/ organizations!!!

$10 may be too little.. considering that u'd spend much more on Rocco and Tiffany's grooming... but it all depends on whether or not u think the cause is important to u.

yep, I agree with iggypuffygirl... if you're generous here, you'll be expected to be generous everywhere... don't worry too much about it... if anything, ask AF to go down there to donate some money too... =)

Well, it's hard to say - depends on if you donate to a lot of causes etc. Most people donate the minimum $10 to get their tax receipt :) I guess if you're generous here, you'll be expected to be generous everywhere!

I don't know if $10 is too little. I'm very tight with my cash. Maybe it's good enough? haha. I don't know. I don't even do pedi or manis. I even cut my own hair. j/k.
