In order to illustrate the story better, i took extra effort to re-enact the scenes..
This is my side of the story
There was a mini soccer session today, so before that, we met for dinner, four of us. We went to the Half-Chicken Western Rice Stall at Clementi. Most of you would be familiar with it.
As there was a queue, Darien was designated to stand in it.
For those of you who are wondering, “Are you sure he would be so nice”. Well, you are correct, he was forced to because he owed me a big favour. For details of the favour, please refer to me personally, we will not discuss anything about that here.
So, our orders were 3 portions of BBQ Half-Chicken Rice and 1 portion of Fried Half-Chicken Rice (for Darien).
The order duly arrived, with me helping to carry some plates. After that, we realised there was no chilli sauce, so Darien made his way back to the stall to get some
It was then that i decided, ok, i do not want to eat one whole BBQ-half chicken. I took one of my BBQ drumstick and swapped it with Darien’s Fried Chicken Drumstick.
I even gave him a meatier one from my plate, while i took a smaller one from his plate. I figured he would come back, look at his plate and kick up a small fuss. And i would get the variety i wanted.
Darien came back with the chilli sauce. And proceeded to eat heartily. I also did not give it much thought. I was thinking maybe he was glad that he could have some variety also. But it was strange also that his face was unusually grumpy.
When we were almost three-quarters of the way through dinner, Darien suddenly shouted at me. “EH!!!. Why the hell do you have a fried Drum Stick on your plate?!?!?!”
“I took it from your plate of course, but i gave you a bigger drumstick in return” I was quick to defend.
“Wah, you sibeh bastard” Darien countered
“Why the hell you did not make a fuss at the beginning of the meal???” I queried
“I thought the Aunty had made a mistake lah!! I thought she gave me the whole fried chicken, but she had run out of the fried drumsticks, and so she gave me a BBQ one.” Darien’s pissed face shot back
By now, the dinner conversation was causing all the particpants to almost choke on their food from laughing, Darien from indignation.
The questions to Darien came fast and furious
“So you think the Aunty fried the whole chicken, except for that Drumstick, she BBQed it specially?”
“What if G had taken your drumstick, but he did not replace it, would you be more angry?”
“G, you should have taken the whole drumstick + Mid Joint, then given him the Mid joint only”
The best suggestion came from me of course
“Darien, you should have gone up to the stall aunty and kicked up a big fuss there. Shout at them! “Why did you change my drumstick!!”.
Darien replied with a “I am a very tolerant customer”
Can you imagine, througout dinner, Darien was chewing his food, while he was stewing inside. “Those despiciable people, giving me a BBQ drumstick when i specifically ordered a fried chicken.” Oh my goodness, imagine the amount of hate that must have been hanging in the air
I hereby would like to issue a warning to all. During our November chalet, no one is allowed to swap/take/steal anything from Darien’s BBQ food plate. I would not like to have any unpleasant encounters with the Costa Sands management that someone from our group has lodged a complaint about the mystery of the Changing Food.
