? Why humans do what they do?

I often read in the news wrt to the love of wealth, fame, adventure, etc, beside 'wine, women and song'.  The world scrambles tor "ever increasing prosperity'....Is this in itself tenable? Sorry, I will leave this to economists to unscamble and debate. Even in my Chinese culture, the never ending greeting during the lunar New Year is "Gong Xi Fa Cai" translated as " congratulations, you have acquired wealth."  Is the ultimate goal of man to accumulate wealth?

As   Christians, we are to be anchored in the "Rock of our Salvation".  He lived and died  in Israel a very spartan life, worked with His hands for a living until "full time ministry"!

 Matt 6:33 says it all," But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, all all these things will be added to you"

I thought about a young born-again super star, and his refusal to run after money and try to do what he feels led to do; and these are the verses from the book of Ecclesiastes:

1:3  What does a man gain from all his labor

          at which he toils under the sun?

5:10  Whoever loves money never has money enough;

            whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income.

            This too is meaningless.

12:1  Remember your Creator

            in the days of your youth,

          before the days of trouble come

            and the years of reproach when you will say,

           "I find no pleasure in them"-

12:13 Now all has been heard;

             here is the conclusion of the matter:

           Fear God and keep his commandments,

             for this is the whole duty of man.

AND in the middle of this book ( Ecc 3:11),  " He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end."

Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 所 以 , 你 們 若 真 與 基 督
