Bragging Rights!?

"  Bragging Rights"I heard these 2 words in a radio program, and my attention was alerted.  I thought ,'what does this mean?' This person has achieved something so great that he has a right  to boast about it?  In my mind 'bragging' seems a worse occurrence than "boasting".  Even the sound of the former is grating and unpleasant, but then, no one loves a person who often boasts as well.So what can a person be proud of? Wealth, skill, sporting prowess, good looks, popularity? And the list can go on.  I can think of at least 2 categories to place these;achievements and givens. The later could include inheritance of wealth, titles or good looks, perhaps better stated as a person's good fortune. Ah, but I have a greater respect for personal achievements: artistic inclinations, great singing, wonderful sporting skills ( these do take long term training and hard work, even if born with good biokinectcis.)Is there anything that everyone could agree on, some people have bragging rights?  Humility and modesty are virtues, recognised by everyone, and there is the proverb, pride comes before a fall.  ###Interestingly, there is a verse in the Bible that tells a person what he can boast about: "人可以自夸吗?

Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
