Advent, Ancient Anticipation And Present Alert.......

In the Church calendar, this time of the year is known as Advent. a season of anticipation.Latin is the translation of the greek word , commonly used to refer to the Second Coming of Christ. for christians, the season of Advent anticipates the coming of Christ from 2 different perspectives. The season offers the opportunity to share in the ancient longing of the coming of the Messiah, and to be alert for his Second Coming. Were people expecting the first coming of the Messiah?  Of course, through  thousands of years, the Isralites remembered the Promise of Someone who would crush evil, someone like the Prophet Moses, the Root Of Jesse, a descendent of King David, etc etc. Yet when He came as a helpless human baby, How many people knew, besides Mary and Joseph?  Ah Yes, the great Angelic announcement to the shepherds in the fields..."This day in Bethlehem...."Then the Wise men from the  East, also named as the Magi, who told King Herod, the Messiah had been born. And an old man and an old widow had waited and waited. and on the day the Baby was presented at the Temple, Simeon and Anna ,by divine revelation they both knew and saw the Baby in Mary's arms, . This is recorded in the gospel of Luke, chapter 2.What of the Second Coming?  Is this for real?  Of course, many passages, some spoken by Jesus Himself, that He would return, and the last book of the Bible the book of Revalation says  He would return , triumphant, majestic and Awesome, to reign forevermore. So do Christians anticipate this? Yes!!  And what of those who don't believe?  Ah, To them this could be a great joke: "The End of the World". But I believe and I live in this hope that all will be well sometime in the future.and I fear too, fear for those who don't believe...wha twill be their fate?   And, many believers say the time is coming soon......looking at the numersous disasters and occuring at a greater frequency.

Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 所 以 , 你 們 若 真 與 基 督
