NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let me take a moment and scream in anguish…
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay. So David Eddings has passed away. And I’m devastated. I was introduced to The Belgariad when I was 15 and I’ve read every single book of his. Even the most boring The Rivan Codex. That was like reading history, as it was history, and explanation of the entire fictional world in the Belgariad & Mallorean series.
Eddings had a way of writing that was so captivating, so intriguing and the characters so much like real laypersons that his fantasy world seems so real, and all the more exciting to read.
After the most recent The Dreamers Series, which ended in 2006, I’ve been praying that there will be another new series. It was a good 5 years before the last fantasy book he wrote before The Dreamer Series started. 5 years of pure waiting. Of course there was the intermittent non-fantasy books, of which Regina’s Song freaked me out so much. It was also one of the few books I read from cover-to-cover at one single sitting. Awesome book!
I think it’s time for me to re-read all his books.. Hmmm..

The minimum sum that has to be in your CPF has just been raised to $117,000. So if you are retiring this year and you don’t meet the minimum sum, you can’t take the money out. Sorry about that.
I’m only 26. I have another 30 years before I can take out the money in my CPF. Wonder what’s going to be the amount then.. S$200,000? Sigh… It’s money that is mine but not really mine.

I think it’s kind of silly to have only one redemption block for converting credit card points to miles. I wanted to close my UOB account so obviously I need to redeem all 3000+ points I have accumulated so far. And naturally, since I have limited Krisflyer miles, I’d like to convert all to miles. But after I log on to the rewards portal, I find that I can only redeem by blocks of UNI$5,000, for 10,000 miles. So inflexible!!! Now I have to spend my points on things like shopping vouchers.. LOL

The fast food chain that is. According to Reuters, Kopitiam Group has signed a development deal with Wendy’s chain to open about 10 stores in Singapore over the next decade, with the first scheduled to open in late 2009. I’ve heard so much about the quality of their fast food and how it’s much better than anything we have here.
I’m stoked! Can’t wait!

Damn.. I depend on GPS quite a bit, especially if I head off to unfamiliar territories.. ZDNet reports that the satellites circling the sky is too old and needs replacing, but there’s not enough funding. The Guardian carries a similar report.
But in the same article, it also says that Europe is launching it’s own satellite system soon, and India, Russia & China also have their own satellite systemes? So does it mean we might not experience much difference / inaccuracies?
For one person who uses GPS quite often, I’m very very ignorant.. ;p
