  • The Kitchen Musical Hong Kong Premiere

    Friday, Oct 28, 2011 4:22PM / Standard Entry

I returned home to Hong Kong on the 3rd of October. Having been away for 4 months shooting the complete first season of The Kitchen Musical. What an unforgettable evening! Got to reconnect with a lot of friends I hadn’t seen for a while.

With the debut of the show launching on AXN in 13 different countries on the 15th, had only nine days to pull everything together. The pressure was on! I won’t get into the details on how stressful it was, but it all paid off in the end.

On the 12th of October 2011, despite the  short notice and rain that day, the turn out was more than I expected. I was overjoyed and humbled from the massive support.

Like to thank in particular, Jason Swamy for believing in me, scouting the perfect location, and project managing the event.

Sean Lee Davies, for his brilliant work, art directing my website and linking me with the right people. Tina Leung, for styling the website shoot in Singapore and my wardrobe on the event day.

And last but not least, thank you to all my friends and family for all the support!!!

(The dress seen here is from Diane Von Furstenberg. Ring and clutch are thanks to Jeanine Hsu, sponsored from her Niin collection.)

    Hey everyone,

    Sorry been out of touch.
Just been recently working really hard on this exciting project called The Kitchen Musical. We were put through 4 weeks of intense acting and dancing rehearsals as well as a kitchen bootcamp. And have been dishing out an episode a week. Just finished shooting episode 7, meaning half way done, 6 more to go.
The first segment of episode one has just been released yesterday on YouTube. I'm really happy to be able to share this with you all.

This is the first International musical television drama series produced in Singapore for the regional and international markets.
This 13 one-hour episode series will be set to launch in 16 countries via AXN. Debut 15th October 2011.
As well as 3 Southeast Asian Free-to-air stations namely :
    - NTV7 (Malaysia) - Every Tuesday, 19:30-20:30 , Debut 4 October 2011
    - Studio 23 (Philippines)- Every Saturday 19:30- 20:30, Debut 8 October 2011
    - Metro TV (Indonesia) - Every Saturday 21:30- 22:30, Debut 1 October 2011

Showcasing an international cast of great calibre, "the Kitchen Musical" is a multi-million production featuring a titillating blend of drama, popular songs, sizzling dance sequences and mouthwatering recipes. Revolving around the exciting world of culinary arts, it is a story of a rich, young girl fresh out of culinary school in Paris who embarks on a journey of self-discovery when she starts working  for The Avilon, her father's restaurant.

Cheek is the creator and writer of "The Kitchen Musical".
Gerard Salonga, internationally acclaimed conductor and musical director from the Philippines, arranged the music featured in the show.
Jason Coleman, Australia's top choreographer, currently a judge on the hit series "So You Think You Can Dance", added sizzling moves to the series.
Massimiliano Della Maggesa of the MTJ brand, renowned make-up extraordinaire, provided his flair.
And Bertrand Cheo created the mouthwatering recipes.

Hope you all will tune in and enjoy it.

    Love,

    Rosemary

  • Climbing Mount Kinabalu

    Thursday, Jan 7, 2010 6:11PM / Standard Entry

Left on Dragon Air's first morning flight bright and early for Kota Kinabalu on the 27th of December. Barely had much sleep from the night before but caught that up on the plane and waiting for my girl friend Janice to arrive from Singapore. By 2:30pm we were comfortably situated, having lunch by the pool of the Sutera Pacific Resort. Originally planned to drive to stay at one of Kinabalus Park lodges after dinner. But my bad, instead of waiting just half an hour for our driver, I asked for a different one to leave earlier and to keep a long story short, winded up checking into the Resort for the night. (Which actually turned out for the better :P)

We woke up at 6am and had a five minute breakfast before our 2 hour drive to the park entrance.
Hired Tommy our guide for the next couple of days and set off at 9:30am from other side of the mountain, taking the Mesilau route which is 1km longer.

The lunch box wasn't spectacular so we were both famished by the time we arrived at base camp at 3pm. Mmmmm the hot chocolate couldn't have been any tastier during our wait for dinner.

Dinner only started at 5pm so we checked into our lovely Waras Hut, took a lot of pictures of the setting sun beforehand.

By 7pm we slipped into our thermals, snuggled up in our bunk-bed and called it a night.
Was luckily able to sleep a bit, which I unfortunately can't say the same for Janice who hadn't one wink. But both up at 1:45am we prepared for our final ascent to the summit with everyone at 2:30am after supper.

Can't begin to describe the adrenaline rush I got, climbing up in such conditions. After escalating thousands of wooden planked stairs, and boulders of rocks we reached a short narrow ledge. That was the beginning of the rope climbing section, and without any harness, we gripped on and made it onwards to the top. I took about six 5-10 min breaks as the air thinned the higher i got to summit. Each time looking up with such admiration at the millions of stars illuminated the  the sky above us.

5:30am reached Mt Kinabalu summit 4095.2M in altitude.

The rest well...was such a natural high!!!
