  • Christian Louboutin / David Lynch exhibition

Oh the joyous wonder of torture guised as beauty... as in my opinion, recently best showcased in the master works of Christian Louboutin- photographed by David Lynch and showing at the Cat Street Gallery until tomorrow.
It makes me wonder about these red soled-much adored Louboutin shoes, about their hypnotic appeal, about the women who wear them. Do we really love the shoe for its own sake or are we merely slavering followers of a larger cult of the waves of fashion?
Why wear a shoe so manipulative, so publicly debilitating, that the very ground we walk on becomes a challenge and challenger?
Or perhaps this is the draw in itself- the very trial of the thing.
An alpha female wearing her alpha stilettos, gracefully and effortlessly defying gravity with every step. She skips past the mere mortals. She is a quiet fighter, the empowered woman: intelligent, disciplined, independant- and she stands tall knowing that anything- absolutely anything- that comes her way, she will be able to conquer.
All that, and she is still able to master femininity, which she displays in her fit physique and tortuously ballet point-heeled Louboutins.
I may be the farthest thing from it, she says visually, but I am vulnerable and delicate and quintessentially female... all that you are and then some. I dare you to love me.

I don't think my shoes should be uncomfortable for the sake of fashion. If a woman is uncomfortable, it's reflected in her face and it doesn't leave a nice aperture. But I don't like shoes that look comfortable.     -Christian Louboutin

    Heya,
Life has been fun. Interesting. I now have a parrot. His name is McNugget.
Last week was a Very Cool week. You know those times when you just feel like everything makes sense? Last week was one of those. Awesome.
So, there's things bubbling around in my life but to be honest I think they'll simmer until the start of next year. A long time I know, but foundations best laid...
Went to the EQ:IQ event tonight- had fabulous fun painting on the storefront window. Well cool! Thanks to Asian-Vibe for the awesome invites.
So I'll leave you with a quote for the day.
