Japanese translation of Phil's blog entry Aug/13/ 2007

I'd like to translate Phil's blog entry in chronological order, but...

This Phil's entry... I can't get it out of my mind!

So I decided to get done it first.

Etchy gave me permission to use these photos. Thanks Etchy!****

sentimental awesomeness...

I went out and indulged myself on the guilty pleasures of sentimental awesomeness by purchasing soundtracks of a few of my favorite animated stories from my youth (or at least from a time when I was younger than I am now...)

Listening to these CDs brings back memories of not only the stories that I savored as a kid, but what I was doing at the time these stories were blasting outta my television... afterschool pen and paper RPGs with my buddies... my near-daily trips to the local comicbook shop... riding in my dad's Toyota to Chinatown while blasting my Transformers The Movie soundtrack cassette from his tape deck... forcing more people than the fire code would allow into my university dorm room to catch up on the Neon Genesis Evangelion episodes that I cohersed from a member of the U of I anime club...

happy memories flow to suface as the music from these dics fill my audio receptors...

sentimental awesomeness!

the 2007 reissue of the 1986 Transformers the Movie soundtrack (with 4 previously unreleased bonus tracks) only one word I can think of for that - RAD

Fist of the North Star Premium Best (two disc set - everything bit of music you'll ever need from this ground breaking series)  PURE AWESOMENESS

Neon Genesis Evangelion Decade (10th Anniversary soundtrack with original and updated renditions of title tracks from the series - I love track 7's version of Fly Me To The Moon<※> sung by the voices of Misato, Rei, and Asuka)  TOTALLY SWEET

Whatever am I curious to know is...

not Transformers, not Fist of the North Star, not Neon Genesis Evangelion...

that phrase! "afterschool pen and paper RPGs with my buddies"!

Wha.........??? Phil, you've played TTRPG?!

ah.... I'm soooooooooooooooo glad to hear that!

Though I've played D&D, TORG and Sword World(Japanese one)  just a little each, I've seen the person who says "I've played it." once in a million!

Blimey, there is a person with experience of "TTRPG(or TRPG)" here, in AnD. I bet that Phil was GM, no doubt. er..... however I almost forget the rules of them... besides where did I tuck away my rule books...?

And now, Phil, Do you know about the adventure game book "The Warlock of Firetop Mountain"( originally printed in1982/England)? I bought it about 20 years ago,and I've treasured up it still in my bookshelf...

Phil gave this entry his own comment:

I started in elementry school with "D&D" and later moved onto "AD&D".  During high school I played mostly "Warhammer 40K" and then played "Rifts" almost exclusively as I transitioned into my university days :)

special thanks to you, Phil

AD&D : Advanced Dungeons & Dragons

Warhammer : the dark fantasy RPG set in the dark ages of Europa

Warhammer 40K : turn over from the dark ages to the far distant future, interstate war RPG

Rifts : SF-RPG set in the world of after atomic war
