  • I'm not a plastic bag

    Saturday, Jul 7, 2007 12:01AM / Standard Entry

I was awoken by a phone call all the way from Malaysia today. It was my GBF (gay boyfriend). He reminded me that today, Anya Hindmarch Hong Kong will start selling the new environmental-friendly shopping bag.

I then recalled the lovely bag I wanted after seeing my friend from new York carry one at IFC. My lawyer girlfriend acquired the franchise to Anya Hindmarch in Malaysia so I took a particular liking to the brand. I have one with the real photo of the white bunny. It's so adorable!

Therefore, I took off only to find that the shop is closed! It opened only for a few hours and as soon as the quota for the new bag is fulfilled so the customers can't even buy other bags! I can only imagine the queue in the morning for this bag.  I know that the bag is 100 over HK dollars but I think it's the queue and quota that makes the bag more interesting.

It reminds me of the time when MacDonalds sold Hello Kitty and Daniel. I was 18 and I never took an interest in the cat until I was drawn by the crowd.
This is a good example of herd mentality. Guys would queue up and eat MacDs everyday just to get kitties for the girls.

A few years down the road, you see me queuing up for a guy instead! My GBF gets b*tcher than most girls if he doesnt get the latest fashion. Gosh, he has more bags than I do! Tsk..Tsk..

By the way, I went out with only 2 missions today. I needed to get that Hinmarch bag and my mary jane shoes.

The outcome: one bag,one hairband,3 new pairs of shoes, 5 new outfits but NO Mary Jane shoes and NO Hindmarch bag!

I'm going to attempt something new tomorrow at IFC. I'm going to bring the exact amount of cash I need to fulfil my mission for the day and leave my cards at home. The girls *gasps* Oh well, I'm NOT going to be lured into buying anything I don't need again....at least this week.Wish me luck!

It's fun to read the madness such a simple bag can trigger.

"Trendy shoppers with nothing but time queued up as early as 4:00 AM to get their manicured little hands on British designer Anya Hindmarch's limited edition, eco-friendly $15 canvas handbag emblazoned with the words, "I'm Not a Plastic Bag" across it. That bag will go perfectly with your SUV!

By 2:00 PM the bags were sold out, but fashionistas can still hit up eBay -- where they are going for more than $100".

  • Whose Line is it Anyway?

    Friday, Jul 6, 2007 1:58AM / Standard Entry

Yay, they finally sent me the photos of my shoot with Rado watches in high resolution!Beats the photos on paper today and the photos in magazines last week. The photos are ok though they made me do corny actions that oversell the watch.

I went for an improv session today. It's basically a group of people acting spontaneously at the request of the audience. If you have not watched the improv show

'Whose Line is it Anyway?' , you're really missing out. These guys are so talented. They act out any scenes the audience gives them on the spot. They  rhyme, they sing and they are so funny eventhough they were never given a scrīpt!

Here is an example, we played a game on stage. The poor guys has to act as lovers cos the audience asked them too. There is no scrīpt but the catch is that the first guy had to say a sentence with the word that starts with 'A' and the second guy answers with a sentence with 'B'..and it goes on.For e.g.

    LOVERS

Guy 1: A re you going to ignore me again?

Guy 2: B ut I have work to do tonight

Guy1: C an you be a little more sensitive to my feelings?

    Guy 2: D on't start a fight again.

Guy 1:  Excuse me? You're the one whose doing it again!

Guy 2: F reaking hell! Get a hold of yourself woman!

Guy 1: G od, I should have listened to my mother.*Sob Sob*

It goes on to alphabets like 'X' and 'Z'.Playing with those guys allowed me to learn while having loads of fun. I couldn't stop laughing.

When it came to my turn we had to act as a producer and a recording artist but the audience wanted us to start from 'W'!

1: W ill u take me as ur recording artist?

    2: X-Factor! Do u have that X-Factor that I'm looking for?

1: Y ou can let me try first..

2: Z illions of people have said the same thing!

and it goes back to A.I had fun with all these games. The people there are so clever.

Here's a link to 'Whose Line is it Anyway' with Robin Williams in it.  Enjoy!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11lRFvq8miQ

I like the one where they had to act out the same scene differently according to random suggestions. Act hilly billy-like,then act lustfully and then like a river dance/musical. Hilarious! How do they come up with such funny statements randomly? Royal Salute!

  • Mary Jane

    Wednesday, Jul 4, 2007 11:12PM / Standard Entry

Basically, I tried to sleep at 10pm but I failed miserably. The fact that I have been sleeping at 5am doesn't help either. I really need to get well! I had nothing to talk about my shoe dilemma. I am tempted to get myself either, the mary jane shoes or the platforms. Which should I get if I can only buy one pair? Ah, tough decisions in life...To think that Fergie even dedicated a song to her Mary Jane shoes!

But I'm only crazy about my shoes BEFORE they buy and wear them. I find myself kind of cursing them after I suffer in them after. Putting all that aside, I still want a new pair of killer shoes!!After today's shoot, I think I'm gonna pamper myself. You're right Carrie Bradshaw, a woman has a right to shoes!

Fergie - Mary Jane Shoes Lyrics (feat. Rita Marley, The I-Three's)

When I wear - my mary jane's shoes
    I can escape - from a blues
The whole world seems a little bit brighter, brighter
My heavy steps get a little bit louder, louder

    Wooh my mary jane's [4x]

When I wear - my mary jane's shoes
Just like a child - under bruise
My heart and my soul - they feel like I'm seven
But from my head to my toels
It's like I'm in heaven, heaven

    Wooh my mary jane's [4x]

When I wear mary jane's shoes
I enjoy to spin - the ones and toes
    Music has another dimension
And I can dance with another perception

    Wooh my mary jane's [4x]

  • Diamonds are a girls' best friend

    Wednesday, Jul 4, 2007 8:56PM / Standard Entry

I had to do a shoot  at the IFC today but I woke up with tummy ache, sore throat and  flu! Nevertheless, I made it in time.Yay! The funny thing is, I always forget about my sickness and my worries when I'm in the middle of work.

However, I think the bling blings played a bigger role in diverting my attention from the illness this time. I was like a firefly, drawn to the light. But when I heard that a set costs like 10 millions dollars, I suddenly gave up. I don't think I'll pay for rocks in that way, even if I miraculously become flithy rich.

I chuckled as I recalled the question from my make up artist. She asked me if I'll get the jewellery after the shoot. If only I was JLo, I thought. I didn't even get to keep the black Escada dress which I thought was perfect my wardrobe.Oh well, Miss JLo-not is gonna get some pills and some rest. Good night:)
