Today, I was woken up from my nap at 8pm by a phone call from my mum. After calling me a weirdo for taking naps at such hours, she told me that she was distressed after watching Miss Malaysia Chinese International’s reality show. Apparently, it’s like America’s Next Top Model now, complete with crying and elimination. To add salt to the injury, the rest of the girls have to choose between the bottom two; which one stays and which one goes home. She was saying how lucky I was because I didn’t have to be a reality show prior to the real pageant. Well, no complaints on my side and I can’t give comments on the show because I don’t have access to it.

Reality shows are ruling the waves now. When we talk about the 80s, we remember the big shoulder pads and the ridiculous hairdos on the boy band members. We associate wheat and bell-bottom-pants with the 70s so I guess we’ll be remembered as the reality show era. Frankly, I am not too proud of it but I must admit that whoever came up with the idea was quite clever.

The contestants from this year gave me a card and a group photo in a frame. How sweet! I think it was the content of the card that was touching.

I’ll be judging a few segments of the pageant this year. Hence, I’ve include their photos above. Feel free to share you opinion with me.

  • DIOR Girl

    Friday, Sep 28, 2007 9:44PM / Standard Entry

I woke up feeling so full today. It was then when I remembered my 7-course-meal at the Dior dinner at Peninsula the night before. With my fav champagne, dom and food from Gaddi's,who could resist the full full meal? The setting was so French and I guess it helped that I sat beside the French from DIOR,Paris as well. I don't know what's with the girls and DIOR. I'm also addicted!Help needed.

  • How to do a TV interview without a voice

    Tuesday, Sep 25, 2007 4:02AM / News

Typhoon no.3 was hoisted today and I had to rush out for a TV interview at a suite. So here's the problem,

How can I do a TV interview that cannot be postponed without a voice?

Yes, referring to my last entry, I lost my voice because I didn't take the advice of an elderly pharmacist.

When the crew heard my voice and saw my sign languages they couldn't help but laugh. Ah well, at least the sound technician said that I sound sexier today so I decided to be speak up eventhough I sounded like a duck...at least, a sexy duck, if there is one.

As my voice was cracking, they came up with an idea that I should learn how to cook from the hotel chef to replace some of my talking scenes. So now, I have to endeavour to cook proper spaghetti carbonara and embarass myself on national tv. I wonder which is worse. Having a Donald duck's voice or exhibiting my talentless cooking skills on tv. Let's just say that my mother wouldn't be too proud. Although the process didn't go too well I am proud to announce that my pasta was 'officially edible' according to the senior chef. Yay! Everyone was proud of me until I asked them to finish the pasta which I cooked

  • Listen to your pharmacist!

    Tuesday, Sep 25, 2007 3:45AM / Standard Entry

    Dear gorgeous people,

I'm finally blogging again and I'm excited to be a new offical artiste at alivenotdead.com!

HK's weather is changing again and so is my voice as I started coughing a few days ago.Hence, I went into a traditional pharmacist shop to buy some cough medicine, after stopping by for pearl milk tea. An elderly pharmacist  approached me and asked,

'Is this cough medicine for yourself'?

    I said 'Yes'

She started giving this whole strict lecture in public about how I don't love my body and health by drinking cold stuff while coughing. She even asked me if I was living with my mum and if she knows about it! She didn't even let me finish my drink! But,but ..I like pearl milk tea

The funniest thing is, I DID lose my voice after 2 days and I went back to the same pharmacy. This time, I deliberately  avoided her and went to this gentle-looking guy pharmacist as I didn't want the elderly pharmacist to hear my course voice. I could barely speak and guess what? She still managed to come over and say,

    'See, I told you so'!

Laughs..so people, you should listen to your pharmacist, esp the elderly ones

    '
