    "Beauty queen of only eighteen
She had some trouble with herself
He was always there to help her
She always belonged to someone else.."

-She will be loved by Maroon 5-

It was our pageant's 10th Anniversary! They flew all of us back to celebrate this memorable day. I got to catch up with my seniors from 1998 onwards and juniors who are already well groomed and all grown up. They have become either good mothers, blossoming artistes or confident students. The experience has given me so much I wouldn't change a thing.

L-R  Philomena, Me, Jolene, Novel, Shiao Ping, Debbie, Annabelle.

    We're missing Angela and Vivien

It was nostalgic going back to where it all began. We were asked to write a speech which would be played as we do our little beauty queen walk one by one and I wrote mine in English to be translated into cantonese. Here it goes..

"I remember 5 years ago, I was asked to define happiness (hang fook) and I said it’s to

‘live a life without regrets’ ( gam sang mou fui).

Since then, the pageant has given me the key to unlock doors to every dream I’ve ever dared to dream of. I’ve the chance to do something for my country, pursue higher education in my dream university and to explore the world, its people and its culture.

Tonight, as I am given the honour to return to the root of my great adventure, I would like to say thank you and a million thank you-s to the pageant and my supporters. Because of you, I’m living my dreams and I’ve finally found my happiness ".

I think tears rolled down my eyes when I recorded it for my voice over. Oh well, we shall now look forward as this is still the beginning for me. Beauty pageants are for others now. I have a long, winding and yet, exciting road ahead of me:)

It feels so good to have the first Chinese Miss World:)

    Hey guys!

First and foremost, I must apologise for my absence. I've been travelling around since October! I'll make up to you by posting more blogs these few weeks. I was the judge for a few segments in Miss Malaysia and here's our winner,Joanne. I'm happy as I think she comes in a good package.Towering over everyone else along with her classical, oriental beauty. Hope she does well in Hong Kong China.

Okay, maybe the piano playing wasn't standing-ovation-quality but check out the best performance of all by 1st runner up, Tiffany.

I remember that I had tears in my eyes and I was holding back cos I was so proud of her. Best talent by far!

Alright, enough with my reflections about life! We'll now move on to the bling blings in HK. There will be free flow of champagne every night from Wed to Sat this week because of the endless fashion shows and events in HK. I'm glad that AnD asked me to write because it's so easy to just have sheer fun in this industry. Without a prayer or some reflections at night, you might end up having just a little too much fun with ur life.

  • HEROES

    Heroes are back!

I love this show so much. Have you ever wondered why this is the most watched tv series in America? Is it the thick plot that intertwines all characters or issit the cool powers and effects they have?Maybe it's the charming actors and the beautiful blondes!Say what you may, but we cannot deny that this show has in fact captured millions of viewers.I love the show because of all the above but mostly, because it sends a worthy message to the society.

It is a little more than the sexiest and yet, hilarious Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives. It is not confined a one profession like Grey's Anatomy,Alley Macbeal and Boston Legal. No, it is a story about ordinary people from all walks of life who are everyday heroes.

It talks about our destiny and how we must never be ashamed of who we are. Our gifts are bestowed upon us by God and so we must embrace them. We cannot never run from who we are and neither should we. The choice to do bad or good with what with have lies solely within us.

As said in Spiderman, more power comes with more responsibilities. In most of our opinions, a very, if not most important trait a hero must have is self-sacrifice. A hero puts others before himself . It is that quality that we cheer upon.

Nevertheless, we live in an individualistic society today where we can go to the moon but we do not know the names of our neighbours. Self-autonomy is placed at the pinnacle of the hierarchy of values. We have the right to put our careers, our wants and our lives before moral values, our country and religion. If we're satisfied with what we have morphed into, why are we still looking for heroes?  I can't help but wonder if there is someone inside everyone of us who is looking to save or to be saved?

What if Prince Charming had never showed up?
Would Snow White have slept in that glass coffin forever?
Or would she have eventually woken up, spit out that apple, gotten a job, a health-care package, and a baby from her local neighborhood sperm bank? I can't help but wonder if inside every successful driven woman is just a princess waiting to be saved?
    -Carrie Bradshaw,
    Sex and the City-
Hey, guess which one is my fav hero,Masi Oka aka Hiro? He has an IQ of 180.But you can so guess which one though.Haha!
