It's that time of the year again! Pageants Pageants! We're crowning a new beauty queen to represent

Malaysia for Miss Chinese International 2009 in HK. I was the host this year and it was heck lots of fun! I

The secret to life is not to do whatever you like but to like what you do!

I've found the secret for sure. Another thing about live tv shows is that you get your energy from live audience.

The entire stadium for full with crowds and banners for the biggest pageant in Malaysia.Oh joy!

Shu's Birthday

It's your Birthday Darling Shu!

     Ten months have passed but sometimes when I think of the day you went away, I still feel the gripping pain as though my heart has stopped and is ripped apart.

    Other times when I talk about you and our times together, I laugh uncontrollably until my tummy starts to hurt.

    You were the the day and night, the sun and the thunder *laughs*
You were anything but ordinary.

I thank God for bringing such a beautiful soul into life on the 16th of October 1983.
It' is better to have had and lost you than to never have had you at all.

   Our friendship changed me. Parts of me went with you when you left us but the seeds you've planted in me will continue to grow and I'll carry parts of you with me for the rest of my life.

Bilingual Host

Hey guys!

I did my first Bilingual hosting this year. I had to speak English and then Cantonese all by myself up

on stage.

Suprisingly, I didn't make a fool out of myself eventhough it was a long speech for the jewellery fair.

I made

my poor friend translate the whole scrīpt for me (I can't read) but he's from international school so it

was a trying experience! haha!

I always feel so short around the models and yet, I'm 5'8!

But everything turned out fine at the end. Thank God!

I love Paris in the summer, when it sizzles. How can one not love Paris? This is the first trip back to Europe since my graduation from Cambridge back in 2006. It’s nostalgic. I was there for work with my housemate, Carrie but in Paris can it be truly called ‘work’? Europe is as beautiful as I remember. The gorgeous sunshine, the Victorian buildings, the smell of freshly brewed coffee, the never-ending Champ Elysees.. what’s not to love about Paris?

Carrie Bradshaw said in Paris,

‘I'm looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can't-live-without-each-other love’.

One can understand why. This city is the backdrop to some of the greatest love stories ever told. There is something magical about this place. Just like how I felt a few years ago, I stepped into a different world the moment I touched Paris.

The evidence lies with the numerous quotes by people who have been mesmorised by the very same city over time immemorial. It is indeed the only city in the world where you can step out of a railway station—the Gare D’Orsay—and see, simultaneously, the chief enchantments: the Seine with its bridges and bookstalls, the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Tuileries Gardens, the Place de la Concord and, the beginning of the Champs Elysees. Rachel TAN Weng Kim, 陈泳锦 is a former Miss Chinese International who represented Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia when she captured the prestigious title in Hong Kong back in 2003. She was the first and only Malaysian to ever hold the title, though Malaysian representatives have a striking track record in the pageant.

Rachel was born on May 4, 1982 in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, to. She has a bachelor's degree in law from University of Sheffield, and a Master’s degree in law from University of Cambridge. She has recently been signed as an artiste by the Jackie Chan Group.

Rachel’s Chinese origin is Fujian, and she speaks three languages including Cantonese, English and Malay.

Miss Malaysia Chinese International 2002
On November 9, 2002, Rachel captured the title of Miss Malaysia Chinese International Pageant (now known as Miss Astro Chinese International pageant), an annual beauty pageant organized by Malaysia's premier satellite television station, ASTRO. During the competition, Rachel also bagged the Miss Photogenic Award.

Miss Chinese International 2003
Rachel further went on to Hong Kong to compete in Miss Chinese International Pageant representing Kuala Lumpur. On 25th of January 2003, Rachel eventually captured the coveted title beating out 12 other beautiful and ambitious young ladies from all over the globe.
In the long run, Rachel beat out press favourites like Miss Bangkok, Kullaya Duangmanee and the host contestant Miss Hong Kong, Tiffany LAM and won. Runners-up were Tiffany Lam, Miss Hong Kong and Diana Wu, Miss Toronto.

Legal Eagle
Rachel graduated from Convent Seremban High School where she was an active student who involved in the Red Crescent Society and Leo's Club. She marked excellence in her academics as she scored 7A’s in her PMR examination (Lower Certificate of Education), 10A’s (8 A1’s, 2 A2’s) in her SPM examination (Malaysia Certificate of Education).
After completing her A-levels, she did her first year at a local private college, Kemayan ATC in Kuala Lumpur before obtaining a scholarship to continue her studies at University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom.

Life at Cambridge
After graduation from Sheffield, Rachel studied her Masters in Law at University of Cambridge, and obtained a place at St Catherine’s College from October 2005 till June 2006.

Modeling and Entertainment Career
She is currently Rado ambassador for Malaysia. In her capacity as an ambassador, she attended the Stella Artois Tennis Tournament in London, traveled to Beijing for the Chinese Tennis Open and visited the Rado watch factory near Berne, Switzerland.
Rachel also had a part in a local sitcom Homecoming on ASTRO in 2003 and a theatre role in the play Leslie, the Legend. She hosted TV Shows “Girls’ Club” and "Sketches"on a local channel, NTV7.
