Bratpack knows you inside out ( bloggers event) at Greenbelt 5
Monday, Nov 17, 2008 11:33PM / Members only
Bratpack just opened their biggest branch at Greenbelt 5 and after 11 years the store that is known to be “the bag people and bag expert” is shifting in a different direction and focuses more on the lifestyle and habit of people who usually live, work and live with bags. If humans has different personalities, attitudes, fashion and lifestyle, the accessories we wear and also the clothes we have matches our personalities, but now the bags comes infront and remodels more our visual projections and aesthetics. It will match the personality and attitude even for being a rocker, skater, adventurer, sassy, casual, sporty, techie and kid friendly, these personalities reflect easily when it comes to the bags we bring in our everyday life and I totally agree with it, because that’s what we are and its fun to play and dress up according to our moods and fashion with our bags. ( more story and photos below)
The bag event at the Greenbelt 5 makes me love the back pack types of bag again, I’ve been living my life owning a bag that is unique and this is just my 1st time to own a Jansport bag and thanks to Bratpack for leading me to Jansport, because I’m a person who don’t like to have some material things that people used to have and I want to be unique and different, but I’m glad that Bratpack collaborates now with independent graphic artist in the Philippines, and now they do custom designs of plain back packs that they call Graphic Remixes. As a former skater in my blood, I used to own an Eastpack bag and it is one of my favorite bag ever, I know they offer lifetime warranty in all bags of Eastpack, but I should check it back again if they still offer the lifetime warranty in some stores and distros. And now bags designs and features are more fitted to young adults who are trendy and indie.
I just can’t stop myself for joining this riddle contest at the event, and I was sitting infront of the host but can’t help it by raising my hand and try my luck. 10 lucky winners will take home one bag and we should answer all 3 corrects questions and guess which bag that stores inside the answer for that riddle question. Lucky me that I’m the only one left with some points and thanks to the bag god for letting me win a new Jansport bag ehehehe. It was a fun event and being with our blogger friends in the industry makes the press event for Bratpack more inline with the generation of what they really targeted. Superb and fun fun fun.. crazy and it took me 50 seconds to figure out the answer on some of the riddles ahaahha, maybe because I think slow that time and needed to power myself with pasta and an ice cold of coke. Thanks to my friends nearby for helping me in some of the answers ahhahaa.Bratpack is a member of the Primer Group that carries global brands that makes for a practical and personal billboard of expression for urban dwellers, promoted through collaborations with the indie art and music scenes’ finest. Are you ready for Gerry Alanguilan's ELMER comics issue 4
Monday, Nov 17, 2008 11:30PM / Members only

The much awaited final issue of Elmer will be launched this coming Saturday, November 22 at the UP Bahay ng Alumni, many komiks fans and also Gerry Alanguilan fans and readers are excited to grab the book four and final chapter of Gerry’s graphic novel entitled “Elmer”. If you are new to this title, its not yet too late for you, You can still download the 1st issue in Gerry’s website and read it in your computer, the 1st issue is already out of print, while issue 2 and 3 are still available in our local comic book shops. ( read more below)
I just saw the cover of the final book, and it looks like a photo of Elmer’s desk at his home and the book were Jake ( son of Elmer) is reading it about their history and story on how and what happened during that Great Awakening event that happened last 1979. It’s a great story and one of the best Filipino graphic novels I ever read. But look to it, the story is all about chickens. Yes.. chickens, roosters, chicks that evolved and matches the human consciousness and awareness , means that it can talk, think, make decision, live like humans, get jobs, be a film actor, politician, cook, boxer etc. It’s a different time line and future from the brilliant and creative mind of Gerry Alanguilan. He stated that he used to have a pet chicken when he was at the age of 13, and he named it Solano, but after an incident of an animal went wild-like episode, Solano attacked Gerry and it left him to think that something might be wrong, or what if his pet chicken thinks and seem to communicate in a different way to humans.
I got a pet chicken when I was in high school, its all white and a fighting cock, I named it “Manok ni San Pedro”, then we kept him with the 3 Hens at the back of our house and it was a great experience that time to have a pet chickens who roam around the house and even lay eggs for us to eat. We haven’t got the time to breed it, and because we are in the middle of a residential area of Caloocan City, its illegal to have your own poultry in the middle of the city, but after moving out and transferred to another city, we were forced to give away the chicken to a family friend, because the compound we transferred doesn’t allow any chickens as pet in the area.
Okay move on to the story about Elmer. What if chickens do speak and think like one of us. You better grab a copy of Elmer book 4 this coming Saturday and find out what will be the fate of the chickens and humans living as one. I haven’t talked to Gerry about this final issue, and if it there will be any reprint or trade paper back format in the issue, compiling all four books, or maybe if there’s a possibility that this story will come out as a live action movie, we can’t tell now, but let’s just wait for his post from his blog.
Are you prepared and ready for Elmer 4 ? hmm I’m not sure If I can wait to get home to read, after I got my copy at the convention, I’ll proceed to Chocolate kiss café, order a hot choco and pasta, there I will read and finish Elmer for good. And I know it will be a good ending, or.. hmmmm I don’t know, its hard to predict Gerry’s brain after what we saw in his WASTED graphic novel, but let’s hope that there will be good ending for Elmer 4, if there’s a bad or tragic ending, I will accept it and find some good part of it.

Az video blog - Whilce Portacio message to pinoy komikeros
Monday, Nov 17, 2008 11:29PM / Members only
This is a video message from Whilce Portacio for all pinoy komikeros, comic artist, writers, creators and to indie comic publishers. This video was aired on stage last June 2008's 7th Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention, it was played after the panel discussion talk with the Filipino comic creators on stage, the panelist were Gilbert Monsanto, Taga Ilog, Taga Kanal, Jon Zamar and many more.
He gave a comment on Filipino komiks, some tips and advice on how to break into international comics scenes and some news about his new project and plans for 2009.
Next week will be the Komikon and this is my little contribution to everyone for proving an interview or video message from international comic creators, and glad that Mr. Portacio is game for a video message for us, at least he is present via online and we feel that he is really at our local convention. - More entries >
