So this past weekend Ry and I went down to Paso Robles (Wine Country) to work. Lo-and-behold...we were instead invited to go to their (his dad and step moms) workshop for First Crush, on Halloween. You would go out to a vineyard and pick grapes for a little while, get educated on grapes and the process of making wines. Next year or even sooner, if you do come back you'll receive a bottle of wine which you and a bunch of others have chipped in to make. (Everyone who comes back receives a bottle.)
Ry and I had a bunch of fun. You'd have a welcoming party for guest and let them settle in for the night at their hotel rooms. Next morning shuttled to the vineyard (Saturday) you have breakfast: you get to talk about wine and sample or drink and then go out to pick the grapes. Lunch: more wine and talk of wine. You then get to see the process of desteming of the grapes. A contest is then held, and the winning team receives a prize, then the guest are free to go enter into the wine rooms and sample. Dinner: later on in the evening, more wine and just plain ol' fun! Practically everyone got drunk that night.
Halloween night was awesome, we helped set up a bunch of stuff, returned to the house and got our costums on, Ry was a little devil, I was a vampire.
Dinner was AWESOME! Breakfast too. I want to learn to make quiche since that breakfast and on...It's leek, zucchini and wild rice as the crust, by Cahoots Catering. It was just awesome. Sunday, went into the office and did their books. Let me tell ya. Quickbooks was screwing with me. I wasn't in the mood in playing around but QB was. So since Rys like my supervisor, I ask him what's up and everything. When he goes and tries to do what I just did...the screwing around stops...wtf? lol I made him into a grumpy old man in 10 minutes....hahaha
Got me a bag of candie goodies...hehe at the dinner, everyone got a goodie bag which contained a wine opener and something else that pretains to opening wine bottles too, a Pomar train toy (dinner at the Pomar Train Junction wine tasting place) which is actually a pencil sharpener and some candy. I have pics, just not of the vineyard we went too..dirty and didn't wanna lose my camera....Party pics...too darn bright and you can't see the faces. I wonder if Becky got any good pics of us?? We also received a train sound maker, you blow into it and it makes the noise of a train.
But anyways, that was the end of the wine making experience tours of the year. If you want more information about the events, please go visit First Crush You do get spectacular views there. Occasionally deer pop out if you're lucky. On my bday night going back home, we saw 2 fawns and their mother out on the road near the entrance to the house.
If any of you guys are interested, please let me know and I'll let you guys know when the "Berry to Bottle" Tours are back on. They're thinking of making more tours, depending on the amount of people who join. So dust off your shoes during Sep-Oct and come on out to Paso Robles.
It's also about 45 minutes drive from Pismo Beach. An Ideal get away for the weekend.
Hope everyone had a great Halloween!
