Winter 2010:

If you have lived in Europe or in the US, you might have heard of this game show called “The Fuse”… Basically, 8 contestants answer a bunch of questions before they run out of time; after what they eliminate the weakest among them until there are only 2 contestants left. These 2 get to the finals and compete for the amount of money they all earned together by answering questions (did you get that???)

Well, this show was recently bought by 湖北卫视 and I was invited for the Chinese version’s “pilot” for which they invited China-based foreign artists. That’s how I got there.

I was so scared to look stupid but indeed I did alright… I finished 3^rd after I was eliminated by the 2 finalists (whom I know very well), and only because they thought I was too big of a threat to compete against (not because I was weak). Overall I was quite proud of myself and as I was eliminated for the best reason imaginable, I really enjoyed the show!

Autumn 2010:

Just random recent pictures from the 2010 China Tennis Open and the Halloween party in 798 we went to with Damien, Mike and Shawn… Quite a nice night by the way. The next morning wasn’t as fun though: I had to act in a theatre play at 9:00am. God bless the guy who invented coffee!!!

August the 28^th, 2010:

This was quite an emotional day… Who would have thought? He he!

I’m glad that it happened that way and that the people I wanted to see made it to the wedding. The place where we had the ceremony was perfect… What else could I wish for?

Summer 2010:

Back to theatre!!!

I’ve been working as an actor in China for about 5 years now. I’ve done many TV shows, TV series and a couple of films too… However, it’s been a very long time since I did theatre work and to tell you the truth, I missed the “wooden floor”… Theatre taught me what acting was really about and I guess I lost track of it when it came to filming. I needed to go back to the roots of the art.

I got a call last year from Andrea (an Italian actor in Beijing) who told me that his school was looking for experienced bilingual actors in order to perform for children. I accepted right away…

The concept is called TIE (Theatre In Education) and it’s held by a school called Drama Rainbow. The goal is to teach things to children through acting and performing… Basically, we call them on stage in the middle of our play and tell them to help us finish the story (which has been about Prometheus this year). We’ve performed dozens of times in 2010 and we’ll keep going this year.

I have to tell you guys, I loved being back to theatre so much that I also signed with another theatre troop in Beijing: “Le Théâtre Des Lanternes”, a team of French volunteers who perform for the sake of “Children of Ma Daifu” (an association who takes care of Chinese orphans). We’re now rehearsing for a play that we will perform in Beijing in June: “Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme” of Molière. I’m so excited!!!

Spring 2010:

Here’s a movie I shot last year… Originally called “我在胡同当片警”, it was recently renamed “社区民警故事”. Starring 王辉, it tells a story that revolves around a Beijing proximity police officer: 李国平. This guy actually exists and I have to say that he’s what we can call a “good cop” (which is probably why they decided to make a movie about him).

The director, 张晓春 and the crew were really great and I had the most fun with 王辉 who is a hilarious guy when he gets started… We wasted a few takes because we kept on laughing and it’s definitely an experience that I will never forget…

Spring 2010:

Here are pictures I took on two different sets while I was shooting commercials for Carlsberg and KFC… I’m not really a commercial type of actor (I mean by that “tall, blond and blue eyed”) but I’m glad I was chosen for these two for I had a lot of fun while filming… Especially that Carlsberg one (BTW, thanks to Nick who introduced me to the director).

Give me a knife... Then run away!!!

A couple of weeks ago, director 曾建川 called me so I could help her on a documentary she’s filming for CCTV (生活在 2050). As I had already worked for her in the past I accepted right away! This role was really fun… Yup! After being a traitor mermen in “Empires of the Deep” and a Nazi in “雪豹”, I had to play the role of a murderer! He he he!

Anyways, this gig was nice and working with 曾建川 is always a pleasure…

Spring 2009:

I was invited by 赵本山 himself to participate to the first opening of his new theatre in Beijing in May. I can’t tell how happy I was to be there… We had dinner with numerous stars (such as 小沈阳, 姜文, 葛优, 那英, 成龙, 曾志伟, 张艺谋, 冯小刚, 郭德刚 and many others) and it’s a night I will never forget… Thanks to my big brother and friend: 博比肯!

French Film Festival in Beijing: "Panorama"

Spring 2007, 2008, 2009:

This is what they call “Panorama”, the French Film Festival in Beijing… I was invited again last year (2008) but it wasn’t as good as the first time… Finally this year (2009) was really great for I had the chance to do all the following things:

1- Meet with one of my favorite directors ever: Dayyan Eng (and I’m not saying that because he’s also on AND… He he! I truly like his style!)

2- Meet again with the lovely and talented actress 龚蓓苾

3- Watch a great film by Cédric Klapisch (which wasn’t his best though, but still… It’s KLAPISCH and he’s also one of my favorite directors even though he’s not on AND yet)… This film is called “Paris” and it feels a bit like “Chacun Cherche son Chat” (one of Klapish’s previous film - 1996): how to discover a city and experience different feelings through a couple of random people… Anyway, the actors are great (especially Romain Duris whose performance was really stunning, and of course: Juliette Binoche, Fabrice Luchini, Albert Dupontel, Mélanie Laurent and Zinedine Soualem… etc.)

5- Shit! I forgot number “4”!!!

6- Meet a really nice girl named Sindy… We’ll work together very soon!

7- Meet again with a friend of mine I haven’t seen in ages: director 王超…

8- Eat marshmallows directly out of the back of a charming Chinese girl… (I know it sounds weird, but try it! It feels nice!)

9- Do all this with my very good friend Luc Bendza…

It was an unforgettable evening!!! :)

This series started on January 9th on 广东卫视! There's about 300 episodes... I'm not sure I'll be able to watch my episodes... There are too few!!! lol
