Some things I noticed: -Gyms and other recreation centers don't consider badminton a sport. Heck, they list wheelchair basketball before badminton (no offense). -Old people are hella crazy in badminton -Badminton can make your legs, back and arms sore -Badminton rackets need to be much larger...that wway I can never miss the birdie. -Why is the birdie called a birdie? -Badminton people will drive hours to find a gym to play -No matter how hard I swing my arm, the birdie won't go so far :(
-Some badminton places have vending machines that sell 1 birdie for $1.25. Madness.
After playing a few times, I've come to admit, and I will only admit here, that badminton is a sport. I'm sore and in pain >.<
Wow! What a great vid!!! That was exciting!!! I just couldn't help but groan out loud when the guy on the red team couldn't get his racquet under the birdie!!! Woot!!!!
The more you practice, the better you'll get at finding the "snap" which will give your birdie some speed. I haven't played badminton for years but I was always so super competitive, like "ram the birdie down your opponent's throat!" competitive. It's a great sport!
My real passion is racquetball, though...you should try it! There's nothing that beats the high when you hit a kill shot at 70mph and the sound it makes when you hit it on your racquet is like a rifle shot! Sooooo cool!
