  • Adorable chubbiness

One of my favorite TV commercials.

Pete Wiggins is such the darling... and very chubby.

He was so impressive in the Kaiser Healthcare commercial, he was invited to appear on the Ellen Degeneres Show. He was 5 then...and still (too) chubby.

Yup, he talks like the 5-year-old boy(!).

And isn't he just so excited to get those sweet treats? A little too excited, perhaps? I do hope it's because someone's been watching what they feed him cos he sure wouldn't want to keep that pudginess as he grows older.

I mean, that pudgy look may be conducive to getting him more acting gigs because, come on, who doesn't like to look at cute, overweight children...of a certain age and of a certain overweight-ness?

    Oversized Americans.

  • Locked-door policy

    Thursday, Jul 17, 2008 9:00PM / Standard Entry / kids / Members only

I used to leave my bedroom door unlocked during the night. If anyone needed their mama, I wanted them to be able to come in (after they knocked, of course) without my having to get up to open the door.

Nobody ever needs their papa at night.

I had to stop my unlocked-door policy though when a child would unexpectedly, silently appear at the side of my bed in the middle of the night.

Can you imagine what a fright that would be?! My heart skipped a beat the times this had occurred.

She wouldn't say a word standing there for who knows how long. I'm a light sleeper though so maybe her mere presence or the creaking floors stirred me from my sleep.

I'd get up and wordlessly lead her back to her own bed. I'd say "good night" and she'd say "good night" back to me. The next morning she'd have no recollection of leaving her bed and making the long walk in the dark hallway to her parent's room. Weird.

This only happened a handful of times. I wonder if she still gets up at night and when she finds the door is locked, does she turn back to her bed to continue her slumber?

I have something of an imagination. What if a sleep-walker in the house were to grab something sharp, like a carving knife, and stab me with it in my sleep? I guess it'd hurt. haha. This wouldn't happen, of course. Lock doors!
