  • Mineral make-up

Discovered this terrific mineral make-up the other day - Laura Mercier Mineral Flawless Face makeup.

I'm wondering WHY, for so long, I had been uninformed about the so-called ('so-called' because I must  find the truth out for myself) benefits of talc-free foundation/make-up. I've been subscribing to or have been a subscriber to women's fashion and health magazines for years. Had I been glossing over and/or ignoring the mineral make-up articles/ads/claims? That they're supposedly better at keeping pores un-clogged, and therefore, better for one's complexion? I'm afraid so.

"Go talc-free!" my esthetician advised. Well, she also wanted to color me up with some of her pricey Jane Iredale cosmetics but I said maybe some other day. I did a little research and learned that I had many options to choose from - from drugstore to department store.

I don't know about you but I find it difficult to choose foundation shades in a drugstore. For starters, one can't open the plastic packages that house their powdered make-up. Well, you can rip open the product packaging but that's kind of a no-no. The colors of the shades printed on the package is hardly of any help.

Secondly, the poor flourescent lighting doesn't allow one to see a true representation the make-up has on one's skin should one manage to crack into one of those powder pots. And what if you get caught ripping open packages in the make-up aisle, which is easy because those aisles are often closely-monitored with cameras (but who's lookin'?) because of make-up's high-theft risk?

Ignorance, no more! I decided to visit Sephora because I find the consultants friendly and helpful, and their lighting a lot less yellow than the dept. stores. Porsha helped me to choose the right shade of Laura Mercier mineral powder. It feels light and looks natural on my skin while providing "buildable" (fancy word) coverage.

Porsha didn't, however, tell me about their great deal of a
kit that  includes a travel-sized zippered case, foundation primer, mineral powder, mineral illuminating powder, secret concealer, blending brush, and camouflage brush.

My small pots of powders should see me though for a few months. Plenty of time to test their effectiveness on my pores.

A final note: This stuff goes on so easily! Seriously. Swish-swish with the fat brush and there's total  coverage. I'm lovin' it!

Woman how could you overlook the mineral makeup articles and/or informercials.  I'd seen the Sheer Cover commercial so much that I bought it.  I love it.  I've always hated foundation so I never wore it.  I travel with my powder round and brush.  I like that fact that I still look like I'm not wearing anything.  I remember Cindy Crawford's & Bobbi Brown's book collabo they said your daily makeup should only take 5 mins.  Mineral makeup still allows me to be in that time frame.

I only discovered mineral powder foundation last year, I find it doesn't feel as tight on the skin as liquid ones but it's not that good on concealing any imperfections I may (usually) have. I'll have to have a peek at the Laura Mercier collection.

I don't know if I would want to use the Laura Mercier primer. My friend used that for a little while and it totally dried out and irritated her skin, and she doesn't have sensitive skin or anything. I recommend the shu uemura primer or Chanel (the yellow one).

Excuse my giggly-ishness since I saw that Archie is now an artist on here..hehehehe I'm a little school girl..hahaha

But I've been doing research on make up for a little while now, yes the anti make up girl...but as we all know that being on the job hunt, you gotta look the part.

Porsha didn't go towards Bare Minerals or Essentials when you were there?

Let me know how it works out, also any tips on what to start out with would be awesomeness!!

Yes.  Please report back because I have to invest in some makeup because my supply is just about exhausted.  I use a cheap drugstore foundation that`s a packed cream applied with a sponge.  It really makes a difference by evening out my skin tones.  My biggest problem is that I have found nothing I can use around my eyes which does not make me itchy.
