  • Locked-door policy

I used to leave my bedroom door unlocked during the night. If anyone needed their mama, I wanted them to be able to come in (after they knocked, of course) without my having to get up to open the door.

Nobody ever needs their papa at night.

I had to stop my unlocked-door policy though when a child would unexpectedly, silently appear at the side of my bed in the middle of the night.

Can you imagine what a fright that would be?! My heart skipped a beat the times this had occurred.

She wouldn't say a word standing there for who knows how long. I'm a light sleeper though so maybe her mere presence or the creaking floors stirred me from my sleep.

I'd get up and wordlessly lead her back to her own bed. I'd say "good night" and she'd say "good night" back to me. The next morning she'd have no recollection of leaving her bed and making the long walk in the dark hallway to her parent's room. Weird.

This only happened a handful of times. I wonder if she still gets up at night and when she finds the door is locked, does she turn back to her bed to continue her slumber?

I have something of an imagination. What if a sleep-walker in the house were to grab something sharp, like a carving knife, and stab me with it in my sleep? I guess it'd hurt. haha. This wouldn't happen, of course. Lock doors!

I was a sleep-walker when I was young, walking to the living room/ other places to sleep, or grab a magazine to throw it away; of course I can't recall it the next day.  But when I went to Toronto, it stopped (I think, cos I lived alone)=P

WE KNOW THAT ONE REALLY, REALLY WELL!!! But we still keep doors open. If closed, we hear loud whimpering.

My mom told me when I was younger, I used to get up in the middle of the night, unlock the front door and gate, and sometimes leave them open(!) before going back to bed. Why I ever did that is beyond me.

Wow!!  Reminds me of "The Grudge" or "The Ring" or something.  You should burn some sage in your room.

hehe. i dont sleepwalk. when i am sleeping and something touches me, i may kick or punch from the sleep, from the bed. so the danger is for the person that touches me ;)

I used to sleepwalk, but I remembered what I did ... finally when my grandma went to HK to do something, I didn't sleepwalk anymore.

My son did that a lot when he was young. He seemed to just have the urge to see if we were still there or something lol.

Wow....that's creepy....I'd prolly scream like a little girl if I woke up in the dark to find a small Asian girl standing by my bed (though this reaction would probably be brought on by the amount of Japanese horror movies I've seen over the years haha).

that happens to my sister too. she used to wake up and stroll all over the house and my gran would be watching over her. apparently it'll shock her to wake her then. she even did laundry one day. LoL!
