Nothing spectacular to mention about the vacay...except for being there. I wish I had something exciting to tell. Nada. Everyday was the beach or the Super Pool at the Hilton resort. Every night was deciding where we should be gouged for dinner.
Temps in the 80's. Moderate humidity. Lotsa sun.
Since I've visited the island of Oahu
a number of times already, I felt more relaxed without the pressure of
visiting certain places that are considered must-see's. Just did
whatever, whenever which wasn't actually much. teehee.
Actually, I had put together a list of possible things we could pursue should we feel inclined while wiling our days away in "paradise." This included hiking Diamond Head, hopping on a catamaran or submarine, checking out the botanical gardens, and a few other to-do's. Didn't do one thing on the list.
Okay...a highlight of the trip was that I was afforded the chance to go swimming. Did that on a few occasions. And I mean real swimming with my whole body submerged in the water, involving some kicking and some water in the nose. Sometimes being dunked. Sometimes some salt water in the mouth as well. Blech.
Let's see... The second evening in, our credit card was declined at the ABC Store (there's an ABC about every 30 feet - something like that ). The credit card company invalidated the card. And wouldn't you know it - we only had the one credit card with us (2 cards, 1 account)! Doh.
Luckily we had a bunch of debit cards along for the ride so there was no anxiety about funds. Apparently, someone tried to use our Visa for some unauthorized online purchase...again. Grr.
One beef I have of the hotel is that I wasn't seeing the courteous, gracious smiles from a lot of the staff that I'm used to seeing at such places. I mean, this is a Hilton resort, where guests aren't charged cheap. A hotel staff's demeanor makes such the difference, especially when you're expecting a certain level of professionalism and courtesy.
Is it because of the "laid-back" lifestyle of the island? Is it because people could no longer be bothered with the niceties? Needless to say, before I left, I completed one of those handy questionnaires for their amusement or edification.
I forgot to write something about the tendency of the room doors to slam shut. So irritating when it's going on around you at all times of the day and night!
I promised samsalek a beach/ocean vid so here is one of them:
Ahhhh.....R&R.....I remember that! It's gonna be a long time before I can do a vacation like that!
We've never stayed at a Hilton...usually we stay at smaller places. I prefer them because the people are friendly and helpful. Maybe you weren't tipping left and right for the courtesy of being smiled at by the staff?
That totally sucks about your credit card!!! How embarassing. Glad you had backup, though.
Sounds like it was very relaxing, but shame about the news on the fraudster trying to steal from your cards again.
That beach in the video...Oh what I would give to be swimming in the crystal blue seas. Very nice.
I know what you mean about hotel staff, a grumpy one can make all the difference, to a point of where you really hope you don't have to go over and ask them a favor!
Yeah how's the pool?! Any hot hunks around?! LoL! I remember a friend of mine went on a cruise when she was studying in Hawaii last year and it looked fantastic!!!! Any chance of hopping onto one? ;)
I was about to ask you if you took any pics in the Hilton resort, curious how the room is like, should be nice rite?....never know their service could be that bad..
