    *Caution! Contains images of food.*

    Ahh, a holiday from work.

There's a local Independence Day parade that takes place every year in the city in which I live. My city was formed when it joined five, separate townships, one of which was once where Charlie Chaplin briefly lived. The parade's route did not take place in that former town.

Here are a few images from the parade:

I  actually didn't attend the parade this time because I wasn't feeling up to it. I prepared lunch instead. There's my new angel hair pasta with fresh tomatoes and chopped clams, along with homemade garlic bread. I felt up to making a tart tartin for dessert.

In the afternoon, a little landscaping work, a little Wimbledon tennis on the telly, a little nappy.

Then dinner at a new restaurant we hadn't visited before, A La Shanghai. A little, family-style, minimally-decorated place with food that's not too greasy or overpriced, unlike its neighbor, Food Talk Cafe. The steamed dumplings were much better here.

Followed by fireworks at San Jose's America Festival. My super-slow camera managed a few good images. The ones my camera missed included the fireworks that looked like a cube (!) and a smiley face (!!), which had red eyes and a green smile.

    That is all.

That's a pretty eventful day.  The food looks great. We watched the fireworks from our terrace.  They weren't so great this year cause the sky was really overcast.

Hm, I don't believe the rest of the world thinks about Chaplin as a communist. I certainly didn't know of his political leanings. Don't really care either. ;P

a "commie"? i thought that term was only used in the movies and the news? :D
just like the newscasters say "communist china" every time they refer to china lately *shock* (cnn, fox, etc..)

i was only kidding, but maybe that is why the 4th of july thingie does not take place in that town he used to live, as commuism = evil! hee hee...

sorry, have to go back to nadal's game now is getting exciting now!

Being accused of allegedly harboring Communist thoughts doesn't make you a Communist. Uh, unless you profess yourself as a Commie. I don't know Chaplin's history but I do know he lived in this particular area very briefly before he became a big star. C'est tout.
