I recently tried the new L'oreal Double Extend® Beauty Tubes™ Technology Mascara. This is my first time trying a "tube" mascara and I would have to say it is one of the best mascaras I've used. And so affordable.

The reason I put on my Beauty Tubes on that particular day was because I wanted to wear a product that would easily wash off with water. No worries about removing using eye makeup remover or the required rubbing. I've found when I think I've done a good job removing all the waterproof mascara, the next day I still have a bit of raccoon eyes in the morning. Yuck.

Another problem with my other long-lasting mascaras (Maybelline Great Lash and Max Factor 2000 Calorie) are they can smudge throughout the day should one accidentally rub one's eyes - or not. Double-Extend does not smudge.

The Double-Extend mascara has 2 formulas - one that nourishes (primer) and the other colors. They both go on smoothly and effortlessly - swish, swish - and seemed to dry instantly.

The result? Double-Extend really lengthened my lashes as if they'd been enhanced with fake lashes. One thing I'm blessed with are plentiful upper lashes and this mascara made them quite fabulous, even without the aid of a lash curler. Made me wanna flutter and bat my eyes all day long and at no one in particular.

The only thing with L'Oreal Double-Extend is that although you may achieve incredible lengths (and spikiness), incredible volume isn't part of the package. I'm totally fine with that.

It took me a few seconds to figure out how to wash the mascara off. I used a wash cloth wet with warm water placed over my eyes to soften up and break down the tubes, followed by gently taking off the flakes with my fingers. No rubbing.

Good stuff. A good cosmetic makes me happy for a little while (last time was with Prescriptives Multi-Finish Compact Foundation). Does this happen to you too? ;)

nice.. i was debating whether to buy this one or the maybelline since maybelline is so loved by all the magazines.. i bought maybelline. but maybe ill try this one since you have great raves about it..

well, my maybelline one isnt that bad.. doesnt smudge at all.. ive gotten to the point where i wear mascara enough times and makeup all over my face, that i rarely touch my face or my eyes in order not to smudge anything.. i think maybelline is great.. the waterproof one though, is really hard to take off.. so i bought the non waterproof one which is fantastic.

The concept of tubular eye lashes boggles my simple mind!

I'm currently into anti-wrinkle/aging Neutrogena products.  ::sigh::

I've found that if the tubes have been wet long enough during the removal process, it'll break down by itself. No need to really tug them off, along with any of your precious lashes. Using facial cleanser or soap is also fine. I'm just chuffed that no eye remover solution (and requisite rubbing and tugging of the delicate skin around my sagging eyes) is not necessary.

hmm... I've always wondered about the mascara that's supposed to lengthen the lashes... so I guess it works... hehee... don't think I will be trying it though...

It's bad I know but I just wash all my makeup off with my facial foam. Saves time LOL! The last experience with a Christian Dior (CD) Mascara wasn't so nice. :S...And my lashes aren't that thick so there isn't mch effect. Hmm...

Do you use liners? The CD eyeliner is AWESOMEEEE!!!

So should I read these comments and blog to read:  be careful when you wash it off because you might lose your eyelashes along with the tubes?

I still haven't tried this yet although I already bought it, I'm waiting for my current mascaras to run out first and then I'll try this.  Hopefully it won't be a hassle removing it, I read reviews on MUA about that but I guess it's because it's removed differently from the usual eye makeup.  I'm a huge fan of mascaras that lengthen lashes so that they look like false lashies :p

Thank you for the review. I actually wanted to try this out but you know how you read hundreds of reviews and then still confuse if you should. Getting reviews from your friends are the best :)  I'm the type that hate to buy a product, try and return...feel so guilty knowing the store probably can't do much but throw it away :-( What don't work for me might work for others. You're the second one (beside Butter) that tell me Max Factor smudge and I know it flake a little for me (I use Volume Extreme 2K)  but with kazillion coats I put on, I kinda expected that :-) I have decent lash length & thickness but love the fake lash look so volume is most important and so far I notice both Maybeline & L'oreal can't give me that volume so I have to stick with flakes. I usually just wipe it mid-day with tissue but doesn't smudge for me, Max factor. I love that I can just wash it away in the shower, part of the routine, I use Philosophy Purity face wash in the shower. My eyes got teary often because my job is to stare at million little windows 4 monitors at time. I think I can use this as last coat, protect the smudging and a bit of length. Yup, good cosmetic finds are such great feelings!!!

p.s. really happy with Prescriptive foundation brush you told me to get. Merci...

Oh yeah. I've got a drawer full of "trials." I figure girl-child will want to start experimenting with make up soon enough. She can play with those when the time comes and stay out of mine! ;)

oh, I have this mascara as well!  I don't use it  often as it does look a wee bit too dramatic.  I usually stick with my waterproof Volum'Express by Maybelline.  It's an awesome mascara that nicely separates your lashes giving it volume and appropriate length.  Plus, it doesn't smudge or rub!

I am so not with it that I thought `how else does mascara come if not in tubes`?  I rarely use mascara these days but I will look for this one.  No.  I cannot say I ever found find a product that gave me happy feet.
